An overview of the “Exploring Collaboration for Sustainable Development” session held at UEH Campus A
On the UEH side, the working session was attended by: Dr. Tran Thi Tuan Anh - Vice Rector of the College of Economics, Law and Government (CELG); Dr. Ho Quoc Thong - Vice Dean of the School of Economics, CELG; Dr. Le Thanh Loan - Director of the Agribusiness programme; Dr. Do Huu Luat - Course Leader of Resources, Environment and Development; together with lecturers of the School of Economics.
The international delegation comprised more than 25 scientists, experts and representatives of management agencies from the Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA), the Institute of Strategy and Policy on Agriculture and Environment (ISPAE), along with many universities, research institutes and organizations in the region and worldwide such as the National University of Singapore, Kyoto University, The University of Tokyo, TU Wien, Gyeongsang National University, AIST, Periyar University and CDRI, as well as management agencies and research organizations from Cambodia, Laos, Timor-Leste and other countries.
At the working session, UEH shared its training, research and international cooperation activities, while introducing a number of the University’s research orientations and areas of expertise. Representatives of the international delegation also shared the research activities and areas of expertise of their member organizations, providing a basis for the parties to discuss potential directions for cooperation.

The programme created a space for connection among scientists, experts and management agencies, promoting research cooperation on the development challenges facing Vietnam and the region.
The discussions focused on linking training with research, innovation and practice, while expanding cooperation with universities, research institutes, international organizations and management agencies. The two sides discussed numerous cooperation opportunities in sustainable agriculture, climate change adaptation, the circular economy, carbon markets and marine resources - issues of growing importance in the context of the green transition and sustainable development.





Representatives of UEH and the international experts share their research orientations and potential areas of cooperation
Accordingly, research activities at UEH focus on a range of fields including development economics and policy; environmental economics, climate change and natural resources; agricultural economics and rural development; behavioural and experimental economics; productivity and efficiency; as well as issues relating to markets and enterprises.
Many studies are carried out in Ho Chi Minh City, the Mekong Delta and other localities, thereby connecting Vietnam’s real-world issues with research questions of policy relevance at regional and international levels.
The session on the theme “Exploring Collaboration for Sustainable Development” opened up opportunities for research collaboration, scholar exchange and researcher connections between UEH and its regional and international partners, thereby promoting research of academic and policy value that makes a practical contribution to sustainable development in Vietnam and the region./.
