From 516 students in the inaugural cohort in 1976, over half a century, more than 280,000 learners have graduated from the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH), bringing their knowledge and capabilities to diverse sectors of the socio-economic landscape. Within that historical current, the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) was established with an urgent mission: to train human resources in economics, finance, and management for the reconstruction and development of Southern Vietnam. Half a century later, from a specialized university, UEH has evolved into a multidisciplinary and multi-field university, steadily affirming its position in the region and the world. Looking back on this journey also means looking back on the transformations of a university that has continuously evolved in step with the development needs of Ho Chi Minh City and the nation.

[Research Contribution] Applying PhoBERT to Automatically Classify Student Support Requests at UEH

Nearly 47,000 student support requests generated on the CRM/Ticket system of the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) have become a data source for a study applying artificial intelligence to university governance. Through testing and comparing multiple machine learning models, the research proposes using PhoBERT to automatically classify and route requests to the responsible units. The work was awarded the Best Paper Award at the International Conference on Next-Generation Data Engineering and Analytics (INDEA-2026), organized with the University of Salford, Manchester, United Kingdom, in August 2026.

From September 22 to 24, 2026, the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) attended the workshop titled “From Risk Management to Enhancing Resilience: Financial Innovation for Disaster Prevention to Promote Inclusive Growth and Climate Change Adaptation in ASEAN”, co-organized by the Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA) and the Institute of Policy and Strategy for Agriculture and Environment (IPSARD) in Ho Chi Minh City. Within the framework of the program, UEH and a delegation of international experts held an exchange session themed “Exploring Collaboration for Sustainable Development”.

UEH announces and presents decisions on establishing the Board of Testing and Competency Assessment, and consolidating Party branch committees under the UEH Party Committee for the 2025–2030 term

On September 28, 2026, the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) held a ceremony to announce and present the Decision on establishing the Board of Testing and Competency Assessment, upgraded from the Testing Center. Simultaneously, UEH announced decisions on consolidating the Party branch committees of several subordinate branches under the UEH Party Committee for the 2025–2030 term.
