On the morning of July 16, 2026, the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) welcomed and held a working session with a delegation from Times Higher Education (THE) to discuss cooperation orientations and solutions to further enhance UEH’s standing in Asia and on the international stage.
Attending the working session, Times Higher Education (THE) was represented by Ms. Mei Mei Lim - Regional Director for Asia-Pacific and Ms. Jessica Wang - Regional Director.
Representing UEH, the delegation was welcomed and hosted by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Quang Hung - President of UEH; Mr. Vo Duc Hoang Vu - Deputy Head of the Research - Development and Global Engagement Board; Dr. Le Thi Hanh An - Deputy Head of the Communications and Partnership Development Board; together with representatives of the Research - Development and Global Engagement Board.
At the working session, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Quang Hung - President of UEH, shared UEH's development strategy based on a multidisciplinary, multi-field university model, aiming to build a university with regional influence and gradually enhance its position on the international stage. The Government's selection of UEH as one of the key higher education institutions to implement the development orientation among leading Asian universities serves as an important driving force for UEH to further strengthen its international academic ecosystem, promote innovation, and integrate sustainability and technology into education, research, and university governance, thereby contributing to the effective implementation of the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Representing THE, Ms. Mei Mei Lim - Regional Director for Asia-Pacific, highly appreciated UEH's development vision, internationalization strategy, and proactive approach to promoting global academic collaboration. She also highlighted UEH's key strengths and discussed development opportunities to further enhance UEH's performance according to the evaluation and ranking criteria of Times Higher Education (THE).

As part of the working session, representatives of Times Higher Education presented UEH with the THE Sustainability Impact Rankings 2026 certificate, recognizing UEH's ranking among the Top 101-200 universities in the world out of 1,603 higher education institutions evaluated. This serves as evidence of UEH's efforts to integrate sustainable development into its strategy, governance, education, research, and community service, while further affirming the University's position on the international higher education map.

In particular, on the occasion of UEH's 50th anniversary, UEH and THE conducted the UEH Flag Journey ceremony, marking the collaborative relationship between the two sides and demonstrating their shared commitment to accompanying each other on the development journey toward new milestones in the future.

Continuing the working program, UEH representatives attended and presented at the “THE MasterClass” Workshop organized by Times Higher Education (THE) on July 17, 2026, at Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City. At the event, UEH shared its experience and practices in enhancing its performance in the THE Impact Rankings, thereby disseminating sustainable development initiatives and exchanging experience with higher education institutions in Vietnam.
On the occasion of UEH's 50th anniversary, Ms. Mei Mei Lim extended her congratulations and best wishes to UEH, while expressing her confidence that UEH will continue to achieve outstanding accomplishments in line with the University's strategic direction. THE representatives affirmed their readiness to accompany UEH in enhancing its international standing, promoting collaborative initiatives, and pursuing sustainable development goals in the time ahead.
