The Journal of Asian Business and Economic Studies (JABES) has always been a pioneer in disseminating knowledge and building a strong bridge between domestic, regional, and international scientists, contributing to enhancing the academic prestige and standing of the University of Economics Ho Chi-Minh City (UEH).
In 2025, JABES rigorously reviewed and accepted scientific works from scholars both globally and in Vietnam. Notably:
+ JABES Vietnamese Edition (JABES-V): Published 96 articles from over 300 submissions, featuring contributions from more than 200 authors across its 12 monthly issues. The majority were results from institutional, ministerial, and national-level research projects.
+ JABES English Edition (Emerald): Published 19 papers from over 700 international manuscripts, following a peer-review process that meets Scopus standards, released quarterly across 4 issues per year.
According to Scopus data from June 2025, JABES has continued to affirm its standing by maintaining its Q1 quartile ranking for the third consecutive year since joining the Scopus international index. This marks a significant milestone, reflecting the journal's stable academic quality and growing reputation. With a CiteScore of 6.6 and a 5-year Impact Factor of 3.4, JABES has a prominent academic influence in economics, finance, and business. In 2025, JABES also completed its application for a CABS (Chartered Association of Business Schools) ranking and an ABDC (Australian Business Deans Council) re-ranking, marking a significant step in its deeper integration into prestigious global academic evaluation systems.

Over the past year, JABES successfully hosted the 7th Annual Conference on Business and Economic Studies in Asia (ACBES 2025), which brought together 6 international keynote speakers and over 350 scholars from 45 countries. This contributed to affirming the academic appeal and the increasingly elevated position of UEH within the global research network.

A highlight of ACBES 2025 was the first-time implementation of a Poster Presentation format, aimed at encouraging new research ideas from young scientists and expanding academic space beyond traditional frameworks. The open discussion sessions allowed for in-depth critique and continuous feedback on ideas, creating a vibrant academic atmosphere and supporting authors in refining and developing their research in a specialized direction.

In addition, the JABES Seminar Talks series was held as a regular academic forum, updating advanced scientific journal operational models and discussing new research trends and prominent economic issues. By collaborating with international scientists, this seminar series helps to shape research themes for the manuscript acceptance process, connect with potential authors, and expand academic exchange opportunities for UEH PhD candidates and young researchers in Vietnam and the region.

Looking ahead to 2026, JABES remains committed to maintaining rigorous academic standards, strengthening its Editorial Board, and expanding its network of domestic and international authors to attract high-quality articles from reputable research topics and projects. Building on this, JABES aims to sustainably maintain its Q1 Scopus ranking while progressively upgrading its standing in other prestigious academic indices worldwide.
In celebration of UEH's 50th anniversary (1976-2026), JABES is honored to announce the keynote speakers for ACBES 2026:
+ GS. Alminas Žaldokas (National University of Singapore, Singapore; Co-Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Corporate Finance; Associate Editor of the Review of Corporate Finance Studies and Journal of Banking and Finance): Specializing in corporate finance, innovation, market competition structure, corporate cooperation behavior, and ESG.
+ GS. Karen Macours (Paris School of Economics & INRAE, France; Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Development Economics): A development economics expert focusing on human capital, agriculture, and poverty reduction in developing countries.
+ GS. Hans Lööf (Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden): Known for prominent research on innovation economics, firm growth, green finance, ESG, and labor economics based on European firm-level microdata.
+ Notably, JABES is actively working to secure the participation of two Nobel laureates in Economics, promising to make ACBES 2026 an outstanding academic milestone.
In parallel, to strengthen the link between research and training, JABES encourages UEH faculty to reference and cite high-quality scientific publications, especially those on Vietnam and the Asian region published in reputable domestic and international journals. The effective use of UEH's internal learning resources, such as the eLibrary and its scientific journal system (including JABES), not only enhances the quality of teaching and research but also promotes knowledge dissemination within the academic community. This is also how UEH is progressively elevating the academic prestige of JABES and the UEH university brand on the international stage.
