Beyond homecoming: Over 1,400 Alumni return & co-create the future value with UEH

04 Oct, 2026

On October 3, 2026, more than 1,400 alumni and learners of the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) gathered back at their alma mater for UEH Alumni Homecoming Day 2026. Heartfelt reunions, networking activities, and community contributions made this Homecoming Day deeply meaningful, showcasing the strong bond between generations of UEHers and the university, while opening up new collaborative journeys as UEH looks toward its 50th founding anniversary.

UEH Alumni Homecoming Day 2026 was a shared meeting point for many generations of UEH alumni. After taking different paths in study, work and life, they returned to UEH to meet the teachers, friends and companions who had accompanied them through their youth. To date, around 2,000 UEH alumni have come back and taken part in the various activities across the entire programme series.

The event was built on five values: Gratitude – Growth – Co-creation – Contribution – Impact. These five values formed a connecting thread running through the programme: rekindling affection for the place where each person once studied, recognising the growth of successive generations of UEHers, expanding opportunities for cooperation, and turning that sense of belonging into practical contributions for learners, the University and society.

Many generations returning to their alma mater

Held from 18 September to 3 October 2026, the UEH Alumni Gratitude Campus Tour 2026 series, themed “Where We Belong”, welcomed nearly 1,000 alumni back to visit UEH campuses, with 15 tours organised, connecting generations from Cohort 1 to Cohort 49. Through these campus visits and reunions by school, institute, cohort and class, generations of UEHers had the chance to meet their teachers and friends again, revisit the places they had been attached to, and witness how the University has changed.

The journey passed through three campuses – Campus A at 59C Nguyễn Đình Chiểu, Campus B on Nguyễn Tri Phương and Campus N on Nguyễn Văn Linh – each holding a part of UEH’s memories and milestones of development. At Campus A, the UEH Then and Now Exhibition, the UEH E-History digital tradition room, Hall A.116, UEH Studio and UEH Wellness Space brought back images familiar to many generations. Campus B took alumni back to the study atmosphere of the library and the English Zone; while Campus N revealed the UEH of today through the N1 Library, the Green Living Hub and the multi-purpose sports area. These stops linked the memories of student days with UEH’s journey of transformation over half a century.

The reunion atmosphere continued with the UEH Alumni Sport Festival 2026, held from 5 September to 3 October, which brought together around 1,000 alumni athletes across 4 sports: pickleball, golf, football and cross-country running.

On Homecoming Day, the finals of the UEH Alumni Pickleball Cup and the first UEH Alumni Football Tournament took place. On the field, the team spirit nurtured during their student years was rekindled once more, creating lively exchanges among cohorts and generations of former learners. Whether they met in a lecture hall, on a campus tour or on a sports field, the common thread remained the same: affection for their alma mater and the joy of returning to the UEHer community.

Connections that open up new value

In the afternoon at Campus N, the UEH Alumni Co-Creation Showcase 2026 brought together 25 businesses founded by UEH alumni; 22 outstanding alumni businesses and individuals accompanied and sponsored activities throughout the series. The showcase opened up a space to introduce the achievements being created by alumni, learners and UEH units. Businesses founded or run by alumni, start-up projects, technology products, creative initiatives and knowledge publications were all present, forming a diverse picture of the UEHer community today.

The exhibition was organised into several zones, including: UEH Alumni businesses, start-ups and innovation, technology and creative arts, the UEH Knowledge Space, together with booths from clubs, teams and groups. Each zone introduced a different field while creating conditions for alumni to meet partners, exchange experience, promote their products and seek cooperation opportunities.

The spirit of co-creation continued at the UEH Alumni Open Contribution Forum 2026. Held at the N1 Library with around 200 participants, the forum gathered representatives of alumni liaison boards and clubs, outstanding alumni, leaders of schools and institutes, and students, who exchanged views on the development direction of the UEH Alumni community.

At the forum, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bùi Quang Hùng – President of UEH shared the University’s development strategy and the direction for building the Alumni Network for the 2026–2030 period. Representatives of units and former learners contributed initiatives and identified areas in which they could take part across the five pillars of alumni development, from lifelong learning, student mentoring and career connections to research, innovation and service to society.

Together with the business networking space of the Showcase, the forum made clear the co-creation meaning of Homecoming Day: relationships expanded into cooperation opportunities; the knowledge and experience of former learners gathered to serve learners, the University and the community. The reunion thus marked the beginning of concrete cooperation programmes between alumni and UEH.

UEH Alumni Impact Gala 2026: Generations converge, a new chapter opens

Closing the series of activities on 3 October, the UEH Alumni Impact Gala 2026 brought all the encounters of Homecoming Day together in one place. Alumni, teachers, leaders and companions of UEH looked back on a journey built up over many generations, recognised the values that exist today, and looked ahead to the road to come.

The story of the Gala night unfolded across three chapters: Back Then – Here and Now – Days to Come. Memories of lecture halls, teachers and friends were revived through stories, images and artistic performances. Among them, the “Heritage Harmony” became a moment when many generations raised a shared melody, expressing the continuity between the values passed down and the aspirations held for UEH’s future.

The growth and contributions of the UEHer community were recognised through honouring ceremonies, sports awards and Giving activities. At the auction, watches from the UEH 50th anniversary commemorative edition were presented to alumni and partners, becoming a source of contributions for the Giving to UEH Fund, which continues to serve activities for learners and the community. Affection for the alma mater was thereby extended through practical actions for the generations to come.

The cohesion of the UEHer community was also expressed through the UEH50 Global Ambassador campaign. More than 20,000 wishes from 5 continents and 22 countries were sent in to mark the 50th anniversary of UEH’s founding. Each wish carried its own story, showing that the bond with the University is still kept alive wherever former learners live and work.

Alongside this, the launch of the UEH Alumni Executive Board for the 2025–2030 term marked a step in preparing for a new phase of activity, in which liaison boards, clubs and many generations of former learners will continue to be connected through programmes of lifelong learning, career development, cooperation and community contribution.

The Gala brought Homecoming Day to a close, but the connections created during the event will continue to extend. More than 1,400 alumni returned not only to see a familiar alma mater again, but also to realise that they remain part of a community that has grown up together over the years.

At this 50-year milestone, UEH Alumni continues to be a place where memories are preserved, values are passed on and contributions are carried forward. From that foundation, generations of former learners will join the University in opening new journeys, towards greater value for learners, the community and society.

Every homecoming is the beginning of a new journey!
