UEH Provides Financial Support to Dak Lak, Gia Lai, Khanh Hoa, and Lam Dong, Partnering with Localities to Overcome Natural Disaster Damage

26 Nov, 2025

On November 25, 2025, in response to the call from the Presidium of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee, the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) presented financial support to the provinces of Dak Lak, Gia Lai, Khanh Hoa, and Lam Dong, joining hands with the localities to overcome the damage caused by recent natural disasters.

With a spirit of sharing and community responsibility, a UEH delegation led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Quang Hung – UEH Interim President; Dr. Dinh Cong Khai – Vice President of UEH; and Dr. Nguyen Thien Duy – Chairman of the UEH Trade Union, along with leaders of affiliated units, personally visited the heavily affected areas to offer encouragement and present financial support, providing additional resources to help the localities stabilize and overcome their difficulties.

Over 200 Million VND Donated to Each Disaster-Affected Locality

During their visits, the UEH delegation donated 200 million VND to each of the severely affected provinces, including Khanh Hoa, Gia Lai, Dak Lak, and Lam Dong, and 50 million VND to Nam Nha Trang Ward in Khanh Hoa Province. The funds were presented to the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committees of the respective provinces and wards to provide initial support for disaster recovery efforts and to care for the well-being of affected residents.

In addition to presenting the funds, the UEH delegation also listened to firsthand reports and shared in the difficulties faced by local authorities and residents, demonstrating the University's spirit of partnership and social responsibility.

UEH's Commitment to Supporting Students in Affected Areas

In parallel with supporting the localities, UEH has also implemented numerous practical policies for students from disaster-affected regions. As soon as the storms caused widespread damage in the Northern and North Central regions, the University rolled out support for students in 19 provinces and cities with specific policies: a 10% tuition reduction, financial aid scholarships, an extended tuition payment deadline, and a preferential study loan program, ensuring that students' education would not be interrupted by financial hardship.

With the continuation of natural disasters in November, including three consecutive storms, UEH further expanded its support to five additional localities: Quang Ngai, Gia Lai, Dak Lak, Khanh Hoa, and Lam Dong—bringing the total number of supported regions to 24 provinces and cities nationwide. With a total resource allocation of nearly 23 billion VND across two phases, UEH has provided timely and targeted support to 11,262 students, helping to alleviate the burden of the storms and creating better conditions for them to continue their academic journey.

With a spirit of sharing and social responsibility, the support activities in Dak Lak, Gia Lai, Khanh Hoa, and Lam Dong, along with the student support policies, demonstrate UEH's consistent commitment to standing with the community. This spirit was also powerfully demonstrated in the earlier fundraising campaign to support recovery from Storm No. 10 in the northern provinces, which saw widespread contributions from staff, employees, and students across the university. UEH raised a total of 518,750,830 VND, including 332,750,000 VND from a one-day salary donation by UEH staff and employees, 125,496,649 VND from affiliated units and other individuals and organizations, and 60,504,181 VND from UEH students.

These invaluable resources not only help affected communities overcome their difficulties but also affirm the "mutual support and compassion" spirit of the UEH community. This serves as a motivation for the University to continue spreading humane values and partnering with society on future development journeys.
