UEH Trade Union holds a meeting to celebrate the 97th anniversary of the Vietnam Trade Union and a conference reviewing activities in the first six months and implementing the program for the last six months of 2026

On the morning of July 24, 2026, at Hall A.103 (Campus A), the UEH Trade Union organized a meeting to celebrate the 97th anniversary of the establishment of the Vietnam Trade Union (July 28, 1929 - July 28, 2026), along with a conference reviewing UEH Trade Union activities in the first six months of 2026 and implementing the program for the last six months of 2026.

Attending the program, on behalf of the Vietnam Education Trade Union was Mr. Ho Nhu Duyen - Member of the Executive Committee, Head of the Southern Representative Office of the Vietnam Education Trade Union. On behalf of UEH leadership were Assoc. Prof. Bui Quang Hung - Secretary of the Party Committee, President of the University; Prof. Nguyen Khac Quoc Bao - Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Vice President of the University. On behalf of the UEH Trade Union were Dr. Nguyen Thien Duy - Chairman of the Trade Union; Dr. Phan Thi Bao Quyen - Vice Chairwoman of the Trade Union; Ms. Phan Thi Thu Hang - Standing Member of the UEH Trade Union, together with members of the Executive Committee and Inspection Committee, trade union officers from various units, and the collectives and individuals receiving commendations and recognition.

Overview of the program

Meeting to Celebrate the 97th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Vietnam Trade Union

At the meeting, all delegates and guests reviewed the glorious historical traditions and contributions of the Vietnam Trade Union. Following this, Dr. Nguyen Thien Duy presented key contents of the Resolution of the 14th Congress of the Vietnam Trade Union, focusing on new and breakthrough issues such as: developing and adopting a new Trade Union Charter aligned with practical realities, emphasizing decentralization of authority to grassroots trade union organizations, expanding the admission of foreign nationals as trade union members, promoting Party development from outstanding trade union members, and digitizing trade union member data integrated through VNeID, among others.

Implementing the “Month of Listening to Trade Union Members and Workers Speaking,” a key activity of the Vietnam Trade Union in July 2026, the UEH Trade Union organized a meeting to listen to opinions and recommendations on practical issues of concern to trade union members, university staff and employees, including professional development, digital transformation, green transformation, and UEH development. Following the direct feedback shared at the Conference, the UEH Trade Union continued to collect online feedback throughout July.

In alignment with the national development goals in the new era and UEH’s development strategy, the UEH Trade Union has implemented the emulation movement “Excellent Work, High Productivity, Better Income” for the 2026-2031 period, launched by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour, focusing on three key tasks: (1) encouraging university staff and employees to continuously learn, improve their qualifications, and master technology; (2) actively promoting innovation and technical improvements; and (3) building harmonious, progressive labor relations and fostering solidarity and mutual support for shared development.

Conference on the Review of Activities in the First Six Months and Implementation of the Program for the Last Six Months of 2026

During the first six months of 2026, the UEH Trade Union made comprehensive achievements across all areas of its work, notably through its role in accompanying a series of activities celebrating the 50th anniversary of UEH. The Trade Union led and coordinated the organization of numerous large-scale and impactful events, including UEH Sports 50, the UEH Run Half Marathon, the “UEH 50 Years - Frames of Knowledge - People - Future” Competition, and the “Spring at the Border 2026” social work program jointly organized by the UEH and NEU Trade Unions in Pa Tần, Lai Châu.

The Trade Union effectively implemented the Resolution of the Extended Executive Committee Conference for the 2025-2030 term, completed the extension of its term of office, and consolidated the personnel structure of the Executive Committees of affiliated trade union units. In addition, communication and mobilization activities, together with representation, care, and protection of the legitimate rights and interests of trade union members, university staff and employees, continued to be strengthened and deepened.

Looking toward the last six months of 2026, following the success of the Family Day held in early July, the UEH Trade Union will focus on implementing its work program, with key activities including:

- Organizing activities to celebrate UEH’s 50th anniversary in accordance with the University’s plan, including UEH Family Day, a gathering for former UEH staff and employees, and the UEH Wellbeing Seminar/Dialogue themed “UEH 50 Years - Stories That Create Happiness”;
- Participating in the development of the “Cultural Content of the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City for 2025-2030, Vision to 2045” and the Code of Conduct for UEH staff and employees;
- Participating in the implementation of the “UEH - A University with a Happy Environment” Project in 2026;
- Participating in the implementation of an educational institution support project in Vĩnh Long as part of a collaborative program between the Trade Unions, Youth Unions, and NEU-UEH Alumni.

Commendation and Recognition of Outstanding Collectives and Individuals in Trade Union Activities

A notable highlight of the program was the commendation and recognition of collectives and individuals who have made positive and outstanding contributions to UEH Trade Union activities in recent times:

- Certificates of Merit were presented to 06 units recognized as “Outstanding Trade Union Groups” and “Outstanding Departmental Trade Unions” in 2025:

- Departmental Trade Union of the Institutes and School of Media & Design;
- Departmental Trade Union of the Department of Training;
- Trade Union Group of the Department of Quality Assurance and Internal Control;
- Trade Union Group of the Department of Finance and Investment Planning;
- Trade Union Group of the Department of Communications and Partnerships;
- Trade Union Group of the School of Business Office.

- Emulation Flags were presented to 02 leading units in trade union activities in 2025:

- Certificates of Merit were presented to 128 individuals recognized as “Outstanding Trade Union Members” in 2025.

The Meeting to Celebrate the 97th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Vietnam Trade Union and the Conference on the Review of Activities in the First Six Months and Implementation of the Program for the Last Six Months of 2026 were successfully held, creating an enthusiastic and cohesive atmosphere while spreading a strong sense of responsibility among trade union members, university staff and employees, with a shared determination to fulfill the 2026 objectives and look toward the 50th anniversary of UEH.
