On April 8, 2026, the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) organized the scientific seminar “Training International-Standard Human Resources in Corporate Governance.” The program served as a forum connecting education administrators, experts, and lecturers to exchange practical insights, identify challenges, and propose solutions for building a Corporate Governance training program that meets international standards for Ho Chi Minh City.

Overview of the seminar

On behalf of UEH, the seminar was attended by Assoc. Prof. Bui Quang Hung - Interim President; Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Phong Nguyen - Rector of UEH College of Business; Assoc. The program also welcomed Dr. Pham Hung Duc - Vice Rector of Dong Nai University, and more than 30 delegates including faculty leaders, program directors, and education administrators from many higher education institutions in Ho Chi Minh City.

In his opening remarks, Assoc. Prof. Bui Quang Hung stated that Ho Chi Minh City has assigned UEH to implement projects for training international-standard human resources, in which the field of Corporate Governance is in the stage of completing its program framework and still needs further input from experts. The seminar was held to grasp practical realities, assess the current situation, and provide a basis for proposing a framework of quality evaluation criteria, as well as designing and implementing a Corporate Governance training program suited to the city’s development needs.

Assoc. Prof. Bui Quang Hung spoke at the seminar

The presentations at the seminar focused on analyzing the current situation and development orientation of the international-standard human resources training program in Corporate Governance. In the context of integration, learners not only need professional knowledge but must also meet global competencies such as foreign language proficiency, multicultural thinking, digital capability, and adaptability. However, a gap remains between labor market requirements and learners’ competencies, especially in international experience and practical application in training.

From this reality, the presentations emphasized the need to design and implement the program in a synchronized manner, promoting internationalization from learning outcomes, content, and teaching methods to the learning environment. At the same time, the proposals also aimed to integrate global competencies, strengthen practical experience, and ensure adaptability and continuous improvement according to international accreditation standards.

Dr. Diep Quoc Bao - Vice Dean of the School of Management presented “Assessing the current status of international-standard human resources training in Corporate Governance in Ho Chi Minh City”

Assoc. Prof. Tran Mai Dong - Dean of the School of International Business - Marketing presented “Current situation and bottlenecks in training international-standard human resources in corporate governance in Ho Chi Minh City: A perspective from education administrators”

Assoc. Prof. Le Nhat Hanh - Acting Vice Dean of the School of Management presented “Proposal for learning outcomes, admission standards, and the structure of the international-standard Corporate Governance training program for Ho Chi Minh City”

The discussion sessions recorded many opinions from experts, education administrators, and business representatives on improving the training framework, enhancing practicality, and increasing feasibility in the Vietnamese context.

The comments focused on strengthening international experiences for learners, developing technology and data competencies, building a multicultural learning environment, and promoting effective coordination among universities, the state, and businesses in the training process.

In addition, many delegates emphasized the need to balance international standards with the local context, aiming to develop human resources that are globally competent while also understanding the country’s socio-economic environment.

Delegates participated in the discussion session

The seminar achieved a high level of consensus on the orientation of developing the training program in an application-oriented manner, linked to practical realities, integrated with technology, and promoting lifelong learning competencies. The contributions made at the program will serve as an important basis for UEH to continue refining the proposal, toward building a training program that meets the demand for high-quality human resources in the context of Ho Chi Minh City’s and the nation’s international integration.
