From April 7 to 9, 2026, the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) participated in the Vietnam - Russia Economic Forum 2026 in Hanoi, as part of a series of academic connection activities, dialogue among university leaders, and cultural and sports exchange between higher education institutions of Vietnam and the Russian Federation.
Representing UEH at the forum were Dr. Dinh Cong Khai, Vice President of UEH, and Mr. Vo Duc Hoang Vu, Deputy Head of the Department of Research - Development and Global Engagement.
This year’s forum took place amid the continued strengthening of Vietnam-Russia cooperation across many fields, especially in economics, education, and innovation. In particular, UEH currently serves as Co-Chair of the Vietnam-Russia Association of Economic Universities (RVCEU). Participation in the forum continues to affirm UEH’s proactive, active, and responsible role in promoting higher education cooperation between Vietnam and the Russian Federation.
Overview of the session
At the plenary session of the Russia-Vietnam Association of Economic Universities, themed “Meeting of University Leadership: Opportunities and Directions for Cooperation Development,” delegates discussed opportunities and directions for cooperation among higher education institutions. Key topics included:
- Cooperation in research projects under the Protocol between the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Science and Technology of Vietnam in 2026;
- Promoting lecturer and student exchanges among member institutions;
-Strengthening participation in academic and professional competitions, as well as exchange activities jointly organized by both sides.

These are practical cooperation orientations that help expand a shared academic space, increase networking opportunities for lecturers, scientists, and learners, and create a foundation for bilateral cooperation programs to continue developing in depth in the coming period.

On the same day, the international seminar “VREF 2026 - Unleashing Internal Strengths in the New Era” was co-organized by the University of Economics - Vietnam National University, Hanoi; the Financial University under the Government of the Russian Federation; and the Vietnam-Russia Friendship Association. The event brought together scholars, policymakers, experts, and the business community to discuss economic development issues and promote Vietnam-Russia bilateral cooperation in the new context.

Following UEH’s role as host of the annual RVCEU meeting in 2025, the participation in the Vietnam - Russia Economic Forum 2026 continues to affirm UEH’s duty as Co-Chair in promoting Vietnam - Russia higher education cooperation. Through this, UEH continues to strengthen its position as an academic bridge, helping expand cooperation in research, training, and expert exchange, while affirming its position as a multidisciplinary, sustainable, and integrated university.
