UEH Hosts Delegation from National Taiwan Ocean University (NTOU), Fostering New Opportunities for Exchange and Cooperation

Attending the working session from National Taiwan Ocean University, Taiwan, were: Prof. Fan Chia-Ming – Head of the Office of International Affairs, and distinguished professor at the Department of Harbor and River Engineering; Prof. Wang, Jung-Chang – Department of Marine Engineering and Head of the Research and Development Office; Prof. Wen Bor-Jiunn – Chair, Department of Mechanical and Mechatronic Engineering; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Wu Chun-I – Department of Mechanical and Mechatronic Engineering, and Vice President for General Affairs; Prof. Yen Shun-Chang; Prof. Chou Chau-Chang; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Lin Yu-Chih and Dr. Ho Jihng-Kuo – Department of Mechanical and Mechatronic Engineering. Additionally, Prof. Wei-Chih Lin, currently serving as the Education Counselor at the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Ho Chi Minh City (TECO), was present.

Welcoming the NTOU delegation from UEH were: Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Quang Hung – UEH Acting President; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Phong Nguyen – Rector of the UEH College of Business (COB); Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Duong Phuong Thao – Deputy Head of the Department of Research - Development and Global Engagement (RDGE); Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Mai Dong – Dean of the School of International Business - Marketing (COB); Assoc. Prof. Dr. Trinh Tu Anh – Dean of the Institute of Smart City and Management, UEH College of Technology and Design (CTD); Dr. Nguyen Ba Son – Director of the MBA Program in Technology Management; Dr. Do Tri Cuong – Director of the Undergraduate Program in Intelligent Control and Automation; and lecturers from the Institute of Intelligent and Interactive Technologies.

At the working session, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Quang Hung stated that the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between UEH and NTOU is a significant milestone, marking a strategic partnership in training, research, and community engagement, with a focus on enhancing learner capacity and expanding international connectivity. Both sides affirmed their commitment to developing exchange programs,  student mobility, global thinking skills, and promoting innovation within the university environment.

On this occasion, UEH representatives also introduced the key training orientations for the UEH Nexus Campus Nha Trang, particularly in fields aligned with Khanh Hoa's advantages and marine potential, such as the sustainable marine economy, marine spatial planning, ocean technology, and international joint research-training programs in oceanography and sustainable development. This is part of the strategy to train high-quality human resources and conduct applied research to meet local and global socio-economic development needs.

The two universities exchanged the signed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU)

Representing National Taiwan Ocean University (NTOU), Prof. Fan Chia-Ming highlighted the university's outstanding strengths in training and scientific research, especially in marine science, maritime technology, and sustainable development. With its modern facilities and extensive international partnership network, NTOU expressed its desire to strengthen cooperation with UEH through academic and student exchange programs. NTOU is also ready to welcome UEH students to study and experience its international academic environment in the near future, further fostering the partnership between the two universities.

During the session, representatives from UEH's faculties/institutes, including the Department of International Business - Marketing, the Institute of Smart City and Management, and the Institute of Intelligent and Interactive Technologies held in-depth discussions with NTOU representatives on cooperative directions in training and research related to technology, smart cities, management, and maritime logistics. These are areas of strength for NTOU and are also planned academic fields for the UEH Nexus Campus Nha Trang in the coming time. The exchange opened up many potentials for substantive cooperation, contributing to building practice-linked training programs that meet the needs of marine economic development and smart cities in the context of international integration.

In addition to the cooperation discussions, the program also featured a Research Seminar on "Renewable Energy, Robotics & AI" and a cultural exchange activity between faculties and students from both universities.

At the seminar, students gained in-depth insights from NTOU and UEH lecturers, who shared practical perspectives, research experiences,  and academic development directions in key technology fields. The exchange activity not only helped students expand their knowledge and research thinking but also contributed to strengthening academic connections between students and lecturers of the two universities, laying the groundwork for future cooperative research and internship exchange activities.

In parallel, a lively cultural exchange and minigame session took place between the students of NTOU and UEH.

The visit and working session with NTOU are expected to yield significant practical value. Through this activity, UEH has strengthened its opportunities for in-depth research and knowledge transfer in cutting-edge technology fields while promoting international cooperation in training, interdisciplinary research, and innovation. This not only lays the groundwork for joint research projects but also contributes to enhancing academic capacity, expanding the global partner network, and increasing access to new technological trends for UEH faculty and students in the era of digital transformation and sustainable development.
