UEH Expands International Academic Ecosystem: Attracts 50 Global Scholars, Develops IRLs, and Connects Nearly 700 Industry Practitioners

24 May, 2026

In early 2026, the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) has recorded highly positive signals in the development of its International Academic Ecosystem: attracting nearly 50 global scholars, gradually forming 04 International Research Labs (IRLs), and expanding a network of nearly 700 industry practitioners. These results demonstrate UEH's growing appeal, while affirming its substantive capacity to implement an ecosystem connecting scholars, doctoral candidates, experts, and academic units across the university.

UEH100 initially attracts leading scholars for the international academic strategy

Within a short period of implementation, the UEH100 Program has attracted interest from nearly 50 international scholars from various countries. Among them, 20 leading scholars and professors – an outstanding pool of candidates – have been connected with UEH for the positions of Visiting Professor and Adjunct Professor, while nearly 30 other scholars are collaborating as Research Fellows.

This is a noteworthy result when set against the program's Phase 2025-2030 target of attracting at least 30 scholars to participate in UEH's International Academic Ecosystem. The early formation of a pool of 20 high-quality scholars reflects the correct direction of implementation, while also mirroring UEH's academic reputation, international connectivity capacity, and the growing appeal of its academic environment.

Simultaneously, UEH's efforts to connect senior industry practitioners have also expanded, with nearly 700 experts from over 500 domestic and international organizations registering as Practical Lecturers in the initial connection phase of early 2026.

This initial result serves as an important foundation for the University to continue allocating and connecting scholars and experts to International Research Labs (IRLs), training activities, and long-term academic collaborations across its Faculties, Institutes, and member Schools.

Gradual formation of International Research Labs integrated with doctoral training

Alongside UEH100, UEH has also recorded initial results in establishing International Research Labs (IRLs) integrated with doctoral training. To date, 13 doctoral candidates have enrolled in the full-time program, 9 doctoral candidates have registered to participate in IRLs, and 04 International Research Labs (IRLs) have been established.

These results demonstrate the attractiveness of the training model integrated with research and international collaboration, while laying the foundation for UEH to develop in-depth research groups aligned with the University's strategy of fostering early-career researchers and doctoral training.

Continuing to expand IRLs across Schools, Institutes, and increasing scholar connectivity throughout UEH

Building on these initial results, UEH will continue to expand IRLs across its Faculties and Institutes, while connecting and allocating scholars from UEH100 to groups aligned with the development orientation of each unit. This also serves as a foundation for UEH to continue attracting new scholars, expanding its partner network, and deepening its International Academic Ecosystem.

The simultaneous development of UEH100, International Research Labs (IRLs), the International Project-based PhD Program, and the network of Practical Lecturers demonstrates UEH's consistent orientation in building an integrated academic ecosystem that connects research, training, and global collaboration to co-create academic and practical value within a long-term strategy.

Based on the foundation already established, this is the time for all Faculties, Institutes, units, and UEHers across the University to proactively and more strongly participate in the development journey of the UEH 2026 International Academic Ecosystem. Every new scholar connection, every newly formed IRL, and every industry practitioner invited to collaborate will add another vital link, helping UEH expand its international academic presence, enhance its training and research capacity, and gradually affirm its role as a hub connecting global knowledge, talent, and academic impact./.

UEH 2026 International Academic Ecosystem

UEH 2026 International Academic Ecosystem lThe UEH 2026 International Academic Ecosystem is an initiative that integrates UEH's international activities in a systematic, long-term, and highly connected manner, focusing on 03 pillars: developing academic talent, cultivating leading research directions, and enhancing research impact. In its initial phase, the ecosystem is operated through 04 key programs: UEH100, International Research Lab (IRL), International Project-based PhD and Postdoctoral Program.

Among these, UEH100 serves as the focal point for attracting international scholars; IRLs provide the academic space for scholars, faculty, and doctoral candidates to jointly develop long-term research directions; International Project-based PhD and Postdoctoral Program are two components that develop the next generation of researchers. In parallel, the network of Practical Lecturer expands connectivity with business and practice, contributing to an ecosystem that combines both academic depth and applied breadth.
