UEH Delegation Attends the Second Technical Training Workshop of the MICRO4ASIA Project at the University of Dubrovnik

06 Jul, 2026

MICRO4ASIA is a higher education capacity-building project under the European Union's Erasmus+ programme. The project aims to support universities in Vietnam and Laos in developing, implementing, and promoting mutual recognition of micro-credentials. Bringing together partners from Europe and Southeast Asia, including the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH), the project seeks to develop flexible learning pathways, strengthen the internationalisation of higher education, expand academic mobility opportunities, and connect training activities with labour market needs.

In the context of the growing demand for professional upskilling and lifelong learning, micro-credentials are regarded as a suitable approach to recognising specific, stackable, and comparable competencies across educational institutions. Through MICRO4ASIA, partner institutions have the opportunity to access European experience in designing learning outcomes, ensuring quality assurance, recognising learning results, and organising training through flexible models.

According to the working agenda, the training took place over four days, from 23 to 26 June 2026, and was hosted and facilitated by the University of Dubrovnik (UNIDU). The main objective of the programme was to enhance the pedagogical capacity of Vietnamese and Laotian universities in preparing, organising, and delivering micro-credential courses in online and hybrid formats. The training focused on on-camera presentation skills, hybrid lecture delivery, and the operation of audiovisual equipment provided within the project framework in order to create high-quality learning products.

Representing UEH at the training programme were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hoang Hai Yen - Dean of the School of Banking and Project Manager - and Dr. Nguyen Thi Hong Nhung - Director of the Banking Training Programme. The participation of the UEH delegation demonstrates the University's commitment to proactive international integration, learning from international experience, and promoting innovation in training activities toward flexibility, digitalisation, and lifelong learning.

After four days of working sessions, exchanges, and hands-on practice at the University of Dubrovnik, the UEH delegation gained valuable experience in organising micro-credential training in line with international standards, particularly in digital learning material production and online/hybrid teaching delivery.

- Strengthened awareness of the role of micro-credentials in developing flexible training programmes that can respond promptly to learners' upskilling needs and labour market demands.

- Enhanced on-camera presentation capacity and developed a communication style suitable for digital learning environments and highly applicable short courses.

- Accumulated experience in organising hybrid lectures, coordinating lecturers, technical teams, and technology platforms to ensure learning quality for learners across different learning spaces.

- Expanded academic connections with European partners, thereby contributing to the promotion of international cooperation, knowledge exchange, and the implementation of upcoming milestones of the MICRO4ASIA project at UEH.

Notably, on the fourth working day, the UEH delegation had the opportunity to exchange with the Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business of the University of Dubrovnik, thereby further discussing opportunities to expand cooperation in teaching and research in the fields of economics and business. The introduction of research tools and software at the AXON Research Centre also opened up potential applications in behavioural research, neuromarketing, decision-making analysis, and the development of experimental and interdisciplinary training content at UEH.

The delegation worked with Prof. Barbara Puh, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Dubrovnik, at the AXON Research Centre.

This training workshop also marked the completion of an important milestone of the MICRO4ASIA project, Deliverable 2.3, as both partner cohorts have been equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to independently produce digital learning materials, operate equipment, and deliver micro-credential courses at their institutions. For UEH, the outcomes of the mission provide an important foundation for further promoting curriculum innovation, developing flexible learning models, and strengthening the University's capacity for integration in higher education.
