On May 13, 2026, the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) paid an official visit and held working sessions with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) at the United Nations Headquarters in Hanoi. Within the framework of the UEH 50 Global Partners initiative, this collaboration sets the stage for numerous practical cooperation opportunities in research, advancing missions that promote crucial sustainable development for the community.

The UEH delegation was led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Quang Hung - UEH President, with the participation of: Prof. Dr. Nguyen Dong Phong - Chairman of the UEH Strategic Development Council; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phan Thi Bich Nguyet - Chairwoman of UEH Alumni; and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Khanh Nam - Head of the Department of Research - Development and Global Engagement (RDGE) .
Building upon the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the two organizations in April 2025, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Quang Hung - Director of UEH affirmed that the cooperation between UEH and UNDP will open up important initiatives and cooperation contents aligned with UEH's development strategy in the coming period. Furthermore, it will promote specific working contents in areas such as: implementing initiatives at national and regional scales as well as youth-led initiatives on innovation, entrepreneurship, and youth development promotion; research on contents related to sustainable development, circular economy, promoting responsible business practices and ESG in Vietnam; research on cooperation models for capacity building and training for enterprises, public units, and localities.
At the working session with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Ms. Ramla Khalidi - UNDP Resident Representative in Vietnam, congratulated UEH on the very important and meaningful milestone of its 50th anniversary. At the same time, she affirmed that both organizations, UNDP and UEH, share a common vision for sustainable development, striving to address pressing issues in Vietnam today, including innovation, digital transformation, and initiatives for sustainable development.

Specifically, in the recent past, UEH and UNDP have implemented important cooperation projects such as: the National Study on the Youth Startup Ecosystem (published in August 2025), the Youth Digital Citizen Challenge project (January 2026), and the project on integrating Responsible Business Conduct content into higher education in Vietnam (March 2026).
Within the framework of the program, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Khanh Nam - Head of the Department of Research - Development and Global Engagement (RDGE) shared with UNDP leadership the "UEH University-City Innovation Hub" model - a vision from a sustainable university to a nucleus of urban innovation, where the university is not only a space for training and research but becomes knowledge infrastructure and a co-creation platform for the sustainable development of the city and region.

Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in Vietnam. Speaking at the meeting, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Quang Hung shared about UEH's strategic orientations. At the same time, he emphasized that UNESCO is an important partner in professional work, accompanying the University in specific efforts to promote sustainable development at local and national scales.

The cooperation activities with UNDP and UNESCO within the framework of UEH 50 Global Partners continue to affirm UEH's commitment to expanding its global partner network, promoting sustainable development initiatives linked to education, research, and innovation. The partnership between the parties is expected to contribute to spreading positive values to the community, aiming towards sustainable development goals both domestically and internationally./.
