On the morning of April 11, 2026, the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) held the Opening Ceremony and Regulations Briefing for Doctoral Training Admissions 2026 - Round 1 at A.103 Hall, Campus A. The program took place in a solemn atmosphere, marking the starting point for the new doctoral researchers’ in-depth academic journey at UEH.
Over 50 years of formation and development, UEH has gradually affirmed its position as a multidisciplinary, research-oriented, and sustainably developing university, while integrating more deeply into the global academic system. With a strategic orientation that places scientific research and international publications as core benchmarks, UEH continues to invest in developing an academic ecosystem aligned with international standards, aiming to train researchers with independent thinking, creative capacity, and the ability to solve both scientific and practical problems in the new context.
Attending the ceremony were Prof. Nguyen Khac Quoc Bao - Secretary of the UEH Party Committee; Assoc. Prof. Bui Quang Hung - Interim President of UEH; Dr. Dinh Cong Khai - Vice President of UEH; Prof. Nguyen Dong Phong - Chairman of the UEH Strategic Development Council, Former Chairman of the University Council, Former Rector of UEH; Prof. Su Dinh Thanh - Chairman of the Scientific and Training Council, Editor-in-Chief of the Asian Journal of Business and Economics Research, Former Director of UEH; Prof. Nguyen Trong Hoai - Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the Asian Journal of Business and Economics Research, Former Vice Rector of UEH; Assoc. Prof. Phan Thi Bich Nguyet - Chairwoman of the UEH Alumni Executive Committee, Former Vice Rector of UEH; together with the leadership of UEH departments, centers, member colleges, specialized schools/institutes, and the doctoral researchers of the 2026 Round 1 intake.

Overview of the program
For the 2026 Round 1 doctoral admissions cycle, UEH selected 75 doctoral researchers across 11 academic disciplines. Notably, 16 doctoral researchers chose to develop their proposals in English, reflecting the increasingly clear trend of international academic integration in UEH’s doctoral training. The admissions results also reflect both the quality of entrants and the proactive spirit of learners in meeting the demands of an international-standard research environment.
Speaking at the ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Bui Quang Hung congratulated the new doctoral researchers and emphasized that admission to a doctoral program is an important milestone, but the journey ahead is the true measure of academic character. He expressed his hope that the researchers will manage their time and work well, strictly comply with training regulations, master research methodologies, develop critical thinking, maintain academic integrity, and proactively use academic English as an essential tool for integration. In addition, UEH encourages doctoral researchers to expand their academic networks, participate in research groups, promote interdisciplinary cooperation, and aim for reputable international publications in ISI and Scopus indexed systems.

After the opening ceremony, the program continued with a series of practical contents for the doctoral researchers. The presentations focused on important topics such as:
- Sharing experience in research and international publication, introducing the JABES journal - Prof. Nguyen Trong Hoai, Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the Asian Journal of Business and Economics Research
- Introducing the international publication funding program, international research groups, and academic integrity - Assoc. Prof. Pham Khanh Nam, Head of the Department of Research - Development and Global Engagement
- Introducing the full-time doctoral researcher program - Mr. Dang Thi Bach Van, Deputy Head of the Department of Organizational and Human Resources Development
- Exploring UEH Library resources - Ms. Hoang Tuyet Anh, Director of the Library
These contents helped equip doctoral researchers with the necessary foundation to proactively adapt to the academic environment, optimize their research progress, and improve learning efficiency throughout the program.
