The Journal of Technology and Design (JTD), published by the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City, aims to build an academic forum connecting technology, design, and innovation. With its interdisciplinary orientation, international standards, and practical engagement, JTD contributes to spreading knowledge, promoting cooperation, and advancing sustainable development.
Amid a landscape in which digital transformation and innovation are profoundly reshaping the fields of technology, design, and intelligent systems, the need for an academic forum capable of connecting interdisciplinary research with practical application has become increasingly urgent. The Journal of Technology and Design (JTD) is a specialized scientific journal published by the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH), established under Press Operation License No. 193/GP-BVHTTDL dated December 30, 2025, issued by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. The journal aims to publish the results of scientific research and applied research in the fields of technology, design, and intelligent systems, following a multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary orientation.
This is the second scientific journal published by UEH, building on the success of the Journal of Asian Business and Economic Studies (JABES) - a prestigious international journal ranked Q1 on Scopus in the fields of business, economics, and management - thereby expanding UEH's ecosystem for disseminating scientific knowledge into the fields of technology, design, and innovation.
The launch of JTD marks a new stage in UEH's scientific research and publishing, while affirming the University's commitment to building an innovation ecosystem, strengthening the connection between academia and practice, and promoting international academic integration.

Development orientation, vision, and mission
JTD is oriented toward becoming a leading academic-applied journal in Vietnam and the Southeast Asian region in the field where technology, design, and innovation intersect, gradually building international standing and generating practical impact for education, the creative industries, businesses, and society.
The journal carries out the mission of connecting academic knowledge with practice; promoting multidisciplinary, interdisciplinary, and transdisciplinary research; and spreading innovative thinking, humane design, and the development of technology for people.

Prof. Bui Quang Hung, President of UEH, shared: "By building an open academic platform, JTD creates the conditions for lecturers, scientists, researchers, doctoral candidates, graduate students, students, designers, artists, creative professionals, and the business community, both domestic and international, to share knowledge, engage in academic exchange, and develop new solutions to practical problems.
JTD's operations are built on five core values: Interdisciplinarity: Promoting the intersection of technology, design, innovation, and related fields; Innovation: Encouraging new approaches, methods, and solutions; Academia linked with practice: Connecting scholarly research with the needs of businesses, communities, and society; Humaneness and sustainability: Emphasizing human-centered design and technology in service of sustainable development; International standards: Adhering to internationally recognized principles of ethics, peer review, and scientific publishing."
Editorial Board: 70% of members are foreign scientists and experts
JTD has built its Editorial Board with an internationalization orientation, with approximately 70% of members being foreign scientists and experts. The Editorial Board is diverse in expertise, nationality, and academic background, helping to expand the network of cooperation, enhance the quality of peer review, and strengthen the journal's capacity for integration.

Expected to publish 12 Vietnamese-language issues and 4 English-language issues annually
JTD is published periodically in both Vietnamese and English in order to serve the domestic academic community while expanding accessibility for international researchers. The expected publication frequency includes: one Vietnamese-language issue per month; one English-language issue per quarter.
Articles published in JTD focus on three key groups of fields: Digital technology and intelligent systems; Human-centered design and interactive experience; Integrated design systems and applications.
In addition to theoretical and empirical research, JTD accepts applied research, case studies, experimental models, creative projects, and works that are multidisciplinary, interdisciplinary, or transdisciplinary, responding to the rapid development of science, technology, and design in the global context.
The journal's readership includes lecturers, scientists, researchers, doctoral candidates, graduate students, and students; designers, artists, creative professionals, and technology startups; policymakers and organizations operating in the cultural and creative industries.

JTD's most notable distinguishing feature lies in its positioning: a journal specializing in the intersection of Technology - Design - Innovation, an approach that remains relatively new in Vietnam.

In doing so, JTD helps narrow the gap between scientific research and the needs of education, businesses, the creative industries, regulatory agencies, and the community.
At the same time, JTD strengthens the connection between publishing activities and scientific conferences, technology exhibitions, ArtTech programs, hackathons, real-world laboratories, innovation projects, and community initiatives. This provides a basis for research results not only to be published but also to have the opportunity to be showcased, tested, transferred, and to create social impact.
Aspiration to develop into an influential academic forum in Southeast Asia
Through its publishing activities and connections with the academic community, JTD aspires to help improve the quality of research in the fields where technology, design, and innovation intersect in Vietnam.
The journal aims to promote high-quality scientific and applied research; to create an environment where domestic and international researchers can share knowledge, form networks of cooperation, and jointly propose creative solutions to the problems of businesses, communities, and society.
In the long term, JTD aims to gradually improve its academic quality, expand international recognition, participate in prestigious scientific indexing systems, and become an influential academic forum in the Southeast Asian region.
Through this, JTD aspires to contribute to building the national innovation ecosystem, promoting the development of the cultural and creative industries, and shaping Vietnam's academic voice on the international map of technology, design, and innovation.

The journal aims to promote research linked to innovation, digital transformation, and the resolution of practical problems in the context of modern socio-economic and technological development. With a consistent academic ethos, JTD is committed to strictly adhering to ethical standards in academic publishing; ensuring an objective, independent, and transparent scientific peer-review process; maintaining the Editorial Board's academic role in evaluating and deciding on publication; and continuously improving the academic quality of published articles.
