The International Research Lab - IRL is a research lab that brings together domestic and international scholars to develop one or more in-depth, sustainable, and internationally focused research directions. 

Aims

The International Research Lab pursues four core purposes: 
•    To enhance the quality of scientific research
•    To establish and strengthen key research directions and nurture leading experts
•    To develop an international research environment closely integrated with doctoral education, postdoctoral training, and the development of early-career scientists
•    To serve as an academic incubator, laying the groundwork for strong research groups and a vibrant international research ecosystem at UEH.
The International Research Lab will receive core funding from UEH, provided on the basis of the approved project proposal and activity plan.

Collaboration invitation

UEH invites qualified international researchers to participate in the International Research Lab (IRL). Candidates should hold at least a doctoral degree from a reputable university and demonstrate a strong track record of high-quality scientific research. Selected researchers will work with UEH faculty in relevant academic units to jointly develop the academic proposal and operational plan for the IRL. Available positions include:

•    Visiting Professor

- The candidate currently holds the academic rank of Full Professor, or at least Associate Professor, at a reputable higher education institution or research institute globally (ranked within the Top 500 worldwide according to QS or THE rankings).
- Possesses an individual H-index of 30+ in Natural Sciences and Engineering, or 15+ in Social Sciences and Humanities (according to the Scopus database).
- Has at least one publication in top-tier journals in disciplines in which UEH is actively involved in training and research.
- The candidate’s total citation count should reach at least 1,500 citations in Economics and Social Sciences, or 5,000 citations in Natural Sciences and Technology/Engineering.
- Served as a keynote speaker at reputable international academic conferences, or as a member of the Editorial Board of A-ranked academic journals.
- Has substantial experience in successfully supervising PhD candidates and leading research groups.

•    Adjunct Professor

-    Appointed under qualification requirements similar to those for Visiting Professors, but with a different engagement model. 
-    Typically hold a part-time, ongoing affiliation with the university
-    Contribute to teaching, research, and collaboration without a full-time or residency commitment.

•    Research Fellow

-    Hold a PhD degree.
-    Demonstrate recognized academic reputation with a personal H-index of at least 5 (according to the Scopus database).
-    Have at least five ISI-indexed publications within the past five years.
-    Submit a proposed research collaboration plan with UEH for a period of 3–5 years.

Expectations and Deliverables for the IRL

-    Implement joint research publications, academic seminars, scientific conferences, and scholarly exchanges. 
-    Integrate research activities with postgraduate training and provide mentorship for early-career scientists. 
-    Produce applied research and policy-oriented outputs, such as annual policy reports, consultancy reports, applied research studies, project implementation activities, or policy planning support, where appropriate. 
-    Develop intellectual property products, application models, or inventions consistent with its scientific and technological focus, where applicable.
-    Build, standardize, and transfer datasets, databases, or information systems generated through research activities to contribute to the UEH Data Center. 
-    Prepare the necessary administrative documents and annual summary reports. 

Application

IRL proposals must include: an academic concept, a four-year activity plan, member list with roles, commitment from the international scholar, and CVs of key participants.
