On April 25 and 26, 2025, the “Conference of Leaders of Departments of Education and Training and Principals of High Schools in the Mekong Delta Provinces 2025” took place at the Vinh Long Campus of the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH Mekong). The program provided an opportunity for UEH to meet and share orientations regarding career guidance, undergraduate admissions, and policies for learners at both the Ho Chi Minh City campus and Vinh Long (UEH Mekong), as well as to offer free training and transfer of essential skills programs to enhance the management and operational capacity of school board members, admissions staff, and teachers at high schools.
With the mission and a new beginning for the journey “For a Sustainable Mekong Delta,” UEH is committed to accompanying the sustainable development of the Mekong Delta region and the Mekong sub-region countries. Following the success of the 2023 and 2024 conferences, and to prepare for career guidance and admissions in 2025, as well as to strengthen connections and research cooperation between UEH and the Departments of Education and Training in the Mekong Delta, UEH coordinated with the Department of Education and Training of Vinh Long Province to organize the “Conference of Leaders of Departments of Education and Training and Principles of High Schools in the Mekong Delta Provinces” with the theme “Connecting Education for a Sustainable Mekong.”
The conference attracted nearly 120 delegates, including leaders from the Departments of Education and Training, principals, vice principals, Youth Union secretaries, admissions officers, and accountants from 70 high schools in the provinces of Vinh Long, Dong Thap, Tien Giang, An Giang, Kien Giang, Soc Trang, Can Tho, Bac Lieu, Ca Mau, and Tra Vinh.

At the conference, representatives from the Departments of Education and Training included Mr. Trinh Van Ngoan – Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training of Vinh Long, Ms. Phan Thi Da Thao – Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training of Long An, Mr. Danh Hoang Nguyen – Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training of Soc Trang, Ms. Pham Xuan Binh – Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training of Kien Giang, and Ms. Phan Thi Cam My – Deputy Head of the Department of Science, Culture, and Arts – Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Committee of Kien Giang Provincial Party Committee.
From UEH, there was the presence of Dr. Nguyen Thi Thy Lieu – Standing Deputy Director of UEH Mekong, MSc. Ho Thien Quyen – Deputy Director of UEH Mekong, MSc. Nguyen Duc Vinh – Deputy Director of UEH Mekong, and leaders of departments, faculties, centers, and lecturers from UEH Mekong.
In her welcome speech, Dr. Nguyen Thi Thy Lieu – Standing Deputy Director of UEH Mekong shared: “As a national key university, UEH is proud to have just been ranked in the Top 136 leading universities in Asia. This is the result of relentless efforts to integrate and affirm our international academic position. With a sustainable development orientation, UEH Mekong – officially repositioned from UEH Vinh Long on January 3, 2025 – will undertake the mission of becoming UEH’s high-quality knowledge center in the Mekong Delta and the Mekong sub-region, making strong contributions to the prosperity and sustainability of this land... We especially value the precious companionship from the Departments of Education and Training and high schools in sustainable career guidance, promoting STEM activities, as well as implementing the UEH Global Learning project – a free knowledge transfer tool to help high school students access global knowledge early. UEH Mekong hopes to continue close cooperation with your units in the future, together building an innovative, creative, and sustainable educational ecosystem for the young generation of the Mekong.”

The conference served as a forum to discuss career guidance for high school students; deploy orientations for the 2025 high school graduation exam; foster skills for staff and teachers implementing the UEH Global project in 2025; as well as training programs on necessary skills to improve management and operational capacity for school board members, admissions staff, and teachers.
On the first day, April 25, 2025, with the theme “Connecting Education for a Sustainable Mekong,” the conference featured key content including: Orientations for career guidance and admissions in 2025 from UEH and UEH Mekong, and sharing experiences in coordination between UEH and high schools in career guidance and admissions for high school students. Implementation of the UEH Global 2025 project, marking a new step in cooperation and sustainable development in the Mekong Delta. The specialized training session “Applying AI in planning and implementing communication work at high schools” provided teachers and communication staff with opportunities to access new trends, modern tools, and practical insights from experts, gradually integrating technology into school communication management effectively, creatively, and appropriately for today’s educational context.

On April 26, 2025, the theme was “Guidelines for Reading and Checking Financial Reports and Handling Errors in Financial Reports,” with sharing from Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Duc – Finance Training Expert, UEH. The program was designed to be practical and accessible, supporting principals and accountants in enhancing their professional skills and systematically updating methods for checking financial reports to avoid errors.

The “Conference of Leaders of Departments of Education and Training and Principals of High Schools in the Mekong Delta Provinces 2025” officially concluded with many meaningful highlights, continuing to affirm UEH’s position in building a sustainable education system for the development of the Mekong Delta region. The event not only serves as a bridge between UEH and high schools in the Mekong Delta but also demonstrates UEH’s efforts to improve education quality, support career orientation for students, accompany teachers in meeting the requirements of modern education, and build strong relationships with high schools in the Mekong Delta on the journey of Connecting the Community – Spreading Knowledge – Sustainable Action.
