On October 18, 2025, the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) and the An Giang Provincial People's Committee officially signed a Cooperation Agreement for the 2025–2030 period. This marks a significant milestone in the strategic partnership between the university and the province, aiming to connect knowledge, promote innovation, and foster sustainable development for An Giang in the new era.
The UEH delegation included: Prof. Dr. Nguyen Dong Phong – Chairman of the UEH Council (2020–2025 term); Prof. Dr. Su Dinh Thanh – President of UEH; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phan Thi Bich Nguyet – Chairwoman of the Strategy and Policy Advisory Council; along with leaders from member Colleges, Departments, Schools, and Institutes.
Representing An Giang province were Mr. Ho Van Mung – Alternate Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Ms. Nguyen Thi Minh Thuy – Member of the Provincial Party Committee and Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Committee; along with leaders from provincial Departments, Agencies, the Business Association, and the local business community.

Under the 2025-2030 cooperation agreement, UEH and the An Giang Provincial People's Committee will engage in comprehensive collaboration in the fields of research, training, consultation, and knowledge transfer to serve the province's socio-economic development goals by 2030. The key areas of cooperation include:
+ Research and consultation on socio-economic development strategies: Analyzing the potential and bottlenecks of An Giang province; implementing key regional development strategies; and providing advisory on the implementation of the Politburo's Resolution 57-NQ/TW.
+ Training, capacity building, and enhancing human resource quality: Deploying training programs for officials, civil servants, and businesses within the province, tailored to practical needs in areas such as the digital economy, green economy, urban management, high-tech agriculture, tourism, and e-commerce.
+ Research and application of science and technology: Promoting applied research, digital transformation, and innovation, with a focus on logistics, high-tech agriculture, processing industries, eco-tourism, and the border trade economy.
+ Smart urban development and international cooperation: Providing consultation on sustainable smart urban development programs; and fostering international cooperation to mobilize resources for the development of both the province and the university.
Through this partnership, UEH will leverage its role as a strategic academic partner, accompanying An Giang in its journey toward comprehensive, dynamic, and sustainable development—becoming a center for high-tech agriculture, aquaculture, and medicinal herbs; a prominent eco-tourism destination; and a key trade hub in the Mekong Delta region, connecting with the Kingdom of Cambodia.

Sharing his thoughts on this collaboration, Mr. Ho Van Mung, Chairman of the An Giang Provincial People's Committee, emphasized that the signing ceremony will serve as a foundation for both parties to set concrete goals. It represents not just a cooperation agreement but a commitment to implementing the Resolution of the Provincial Party Congress, particularly in training a high-quality workforce for emerging economic sectors and fields related to science and technology, thereby meeting the province's development needs in the context of integration and innovation.

On behalf of UEH, Prof. Dr. Su Dinh Thanh pledged: “UEH will mobilize its full academic resources, research capabilities, and expert network in economics, management, finance, technology, innovation, and media design to partner with An Giang province. We will establish an effective cooperation mechanism and implement programs, research topics, and projects that deliver practical value to the community and foster sustainable local development.”
