UEH participated in the Capacity-Building Development Lab under the Erasmus+ MICRO4ASIA Project at the University of Dubrovnik (UNIDU), Croatia

Within the framework of the MICRO4ASIA Project funded by the European Commission, from 24 to 27 November 2025, the delegation of the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) participated in the Capacity-Building Development Lab hosted by the University of Dubrovnik (UNIDU), Croatia. The program brought together experts and academic staff from partner universities in Vietnam, Laos, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Italy and Belgium, aiming to strengthen capacity in designing, quality-assuring, and implementing micro-credentials aligned with European standards.

The UEH delegation included Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hoang Hai Yen – Dean of the School of Banking, UEH College of Business and Project Coordinator; MSc. Cao Ngoc Thuy – Deputy Head of the Monetary Business Subject Group and Project Secretary; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phan Chung Thuy – Vice Dean of the School of Banking; and MSc. Duong Tan Khoa – Vice Dean of the School of Banking, College of Business UEH.

Over four intensive working days, the training program focused on enhancing the design and implementation capacity of partner institutions through a combination of expert presentations, group discussions and hands-on practice. Key content included reviewing and standardizing learning outcomes, workload, teaching and assessment methods based on European frameworks such as EQF and ESCO; integrating assessment into internal quality assurance systems; developing transparent evaluation criteria; and discussing internal approval mechanisms as well as solutions to address implementation challenges. Participants also had the opportunity to visit and observe UNIDU’s digital content production facilities and short-course delivery models, contributing to identifying applicable practices for micro-credential implementation at partner institutions.

During the in-depth discussion sessions, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hoang Hai Yen – Dean of the School of Banking, UEH College of Business, on behalf of the UEH delegation, delivered a presentation on internal approval processes and credit recognition mechanisms for micro-credential models within the Vietnamese higher education context. She also analyzed the potential of target learner markets, including working professionals and lifelong learners seeking flexible and short-term upskilling opportunities. Her insights highlighted the adaptability of MICRO4ASIA’s micro-credential model to fast-growing education ecosystems in Southeast Asia, including Vietnam.

Additionally, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phan Chung Thuy – Vice Dean of the School of Banking, College of Business UEH, presented UEH’s process and practical experience in designing and implementing a MICRO4ASIA course, particularly those addressing emerging trends in the Banking and Finance sector such as Fintech in Banking. Her presentation emphasized the modularization approach, alignment between learning outcomes, content and assessments, and the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration and standardized content development procedures to ensure consistency and scalability.

Regarding quality assurance, MSc. Dương Tan Khoa – Vice Dean of the School of Banking, College of Business UEH, delivered a presentation on UEH’s internal quality assurance mechanisms and its experience in digitalizing short courses. He highlighted key quality control steps in course design, delivery and evaluation, as well as UEH’s practical experience in applying online learning platforms, learning management systems and digital content repositories to enhance flexibility, accessibility and learning effectiveness in short-term training programs.

The training program at the University of Dubrovnik not only provided valuable professional insights but also contributed significantly to UEH’s strategy for digital transformation, internationalization and quality enhancement. Through direct engagement with European standards, implementation models and practical experiences, UEH strengthened its foundation for developing a flexible learning ecosystem, promoting lifelong learning and expanding educational opportunities for diverse learner groups. The outcomes of this program serve as an important basis for UEH to continue contributing effectively to the next phases of the MICRO4ASIA Project during 2025–2028. This marks a strategic step in enhancing UEH’s competitiveness in the region and affirming its role in the modernization of higher education in Vietnam.
