On the morning of October 6, 2025, a solemn and meaningful Opening Ceremony for the 51st Intake of full-time undergraduate programs at UEH Mekong was held, leading up to the 50th anniversary of UEH's establishment (October 27, 1976 - October 27, 2026). With the theme "The First Page - Write Your Own Story at UEH," the event not only marked the opening chapter in the academic journey of the 51st Intake's new students but also encouraged them to confidently write their own stories with memorable experiences at UEH Mekong over the next four years.
The 51st Intake at UEH Mekong - Continuing to Write Golden Pages of Identity
The 2025 Opening Ceremony for the 51st Intake of full-time undergraduate programs is a significant event, opening a new chapter in the 5-year journey of UEH Mekong and the nearly 50-year history of UEH—an institution that has become a bastion of knowledge and aspiration for generations. The admission of over 600 new students at UEH Mekong today is a testament to the trust and choice that the students and their families have placed in UEH.
With the theme "The First Page - Write Your Own Story at UEH," UEH Mekong wished to convey a meaningful message to the new students: The 50-year book of UEH has been written with the sweat, intellect, aspirations, and glorious milestones of previous generations. Today, it is you who will open the first page of a new story!
Attending the Opening Ceremony for the 51st Intake, UEH was honored to welcome representatives from the Vinh Long Provincial Party Committee, People's Committee, and various departments and agencies: Ms. Ho Thi Hoang Yen - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Vinh Long Provincial Party Committee; Mr. Kim Ruong - Member of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Dr. Nguyen Thi Quyen Thanh - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairwoman of the Provincial People's Committee; Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the Provincial People's Committee Office; Ms. Truong Thanh Nhuan - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Deputy Head of the Vinh Long Provincial Party Committee Office; Ms. La Thi Thuy - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Director of the Department of Education and Training; Ms. Nguyen Truc Hanh - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Rector of Pham Hung Political School; Senior Colonel Tran Quoc Phuc - Deputy Director of the Provincial Police; Ms. Nguyen Thi Nhung - Deputy Director of the Department of Finance; Ms. Le Thi Hong Linh - Deputy Head of the Provincial Tax Department; Ms. Tran Thi Mai Phuong - Deputy Head of the Division of Culture and Social Affairs, Vinh Long Provincial People's Committee Office.
The event was also attended by representatives from colleges and universities within and outside the province: Dr. Phan Quoc Nghia - Vice Rector of Tra Vinh University; Mr. Le Van Luong - Rector of Nha Trang College of Economics; Mr. Le Minh Hiep - Vice Rector, Acting Rector of Vinh Long Vocational College; Dr. Phan Thi Le Thu - Standing Vice Rector of Vien Dong College (Ho Chi Minh City); and faculty members from Tra Vinh Vocational College.

In this solemn atmosphere, UEH Mekong also welcomed distinguished delegates, guests, and leaders from banks, enterprises, and partner organizations that have signed training cooperation agreements with UEH Mekong; representatives from departments under the Vinh Long Provincial Police; leaders of the Party Committee and People's Committee of Tan Hanh Ward; and Principals from various high schools in the area.

The first lecture for the new students of the 51st Intake came in the form of a heartfelt message from Prof. Dr. Su Dinh Thanh, President of UEH: "To write a beautiful and meaningful four-year university story, I want to tell you that today, you officially step into a new chapter, a vibrant four-year journey at our shared home, UEH. I am confident that you will bring honor to UEH with your talent, creativity, and passion. The academic journey is a challenging one, and UEH is proud to accompany you as you write your very own 'first page.' For this four-year journey to be truly meaningful, I wish to impart six important things:
Begin with Belief in yourselves. Continue writing with persistent Effort, add color with relentless Creativity, and create long chapters through deep Connection with friends, teachers, and the community. Importantly, leverage Knowledge and Technology as your launchpad for the future, and always aim for Sustainable values in all your actions.
UEH faculty are always by your side, watching over and helping you become the best version of yourselves. Let us together glorify UEH's traditions and open up a vast future for each of you. I wish you a successful four-year journey!"

Alumna of the 47th Intake - Tran Dao Bich Thao, an outstanding graduate in Economic Law, hands over the UEH Mekong Traditional Flag to the new valedictorian of the 51st Intake—a moment of proud transition, entrusting the K51 generation with the hope that they will continue to cultivate a spirit of learning, promote dynamism and creativity, and build a community of UEHers who positively impact society.
Continuing the program, in the solemn and meaningful atmosphere of the ceremony, Dr. Nguyen Thi Quyen Thanh - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairwoman of the Vinh Long Provincial People's Committee, shared valuable guidance and profound encouragement for the students of the 51st Intake at UEH Mekong: "University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) has increasingly affirmed its position as a key national and regional university, pioneering in high-quality human resource training, scientific research, and innovation. The UEH Branch in Vinh Long Province (UEH Mekong) has also demonstrated its standing and fulfilled UEH's responsibility in training, research, consulting, and policy feedback, contributing to the sustainable development of the Mekong Delta. With over 600 students in its 51st Intake, UEH Mekong continues to affirm its quality, scale, and mission for Vinh Long Province and the entire Mekong Delta region.
To the K51 generation at UEH Mekong, I congratulate you on your successful admission to UEH and wish to remind you that you are entering an era where our nation strives for prosperity. I trust that your generation knows what needs to be done. Therefore, define your learning motivation now, strive every day to excel in your studies, so that upon graduation, you will be mature, fully capable of entrepreneurship, and ready to contribute to the development of our province and our country."

Honoring Outstanding Efforts
In pursuit of Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG4), UEH Mekong annually implements numerous scholarship policies to encourage and create favorable conditions for students on their path to knowledge.
This year, UEH Mekong awarded 730 million VND to honor valedictorians and salutatorians and to provide admission and financial aid scholarships to new students of the 51st Intake—a worthy recognition of their 12 years of persistent effort, which has led them to officially become resilient UEHers today.

The academic journey at UEH Mekong is one of aspiration, youthful ambition, and a relentless passion for knowledge. Sharing his story, new student Le Phuc Hau from the Marketing major expressed his happiness and excitement: "Today, I feel a mix of happiness and nervousness. I am incredibly grateful to my grandparents for keeping their promise to support my education. Now that I am in university, I will not let anyone down." Raised by his grandparents in Vinh Long, Hau always saw knowledge as the path to a better life. Regarding his choice of UEH Mekong, he stated: "I chose this place not only for its modern and dynamic learning environment but also for its mission to develop high-quality human resources for the Mekong Delta." Inspiring his peers, Hau added: "Let us strive with ideals, belief, responsibility, and gratitude. Always keep the flame of passion alive and step forward with the confidence that 'I can do it!'" On behalf of all K51 students, he pledged to "learn with integrity, act with integrity, and live responsibly" to honor the trust of their families, teachers, and UEH.
