As a pioneer in digital transformation in Vietnam, the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) continuously innovates and standardizes its training management processes across all academic levels through digital platforms such as UEH Internship, UEH Thesis, and most recently, the Doctoral Thesis Management System (UEH PhD).
In 2025, UEH officially launched its Doctoral Thesis (PhD) Management System - a platform designed to digitize the management of doctoral training. Developed based on practical training and management needs, and referencing advanced governance models from international universities like the University of Lincoln (UK) and JAIST (Japan), the system aims to meet the demands for standardization, transparency, and enhanced efficiency in managing PhD candidates.
The PhD system provides comprehensive support for all stakeholders - Ph.D. candidates, supervisors, and Functional Management Units - through its key features:
+ Supervisor - Candidate Interaction: Tracks the entire communication process, sends automatic notifications, and monitors research progress.
+ Periodic Reporting: Ph.D. candidates submit reports every six months to their specialized unit in accordance with Circular 18. This allows supervisors and school/institute leaders to monitor, approve, and digitally sign online, reducing processing time and ensuring strict academic oversight.
+ Finance and To - Do List Module: Automatically updates tuition fee status, sends payment reminders, and lists key tasks for each semester.
+ Visual Research Roadmap: Divides the process into stages, from "Supervisor Assignment" to "UEH-level Thesis Defense," helping candidates track their progress and meet deadlines.
+ Security and Authorization: Controls access based on roles, ensuring data security and academic integrity.

Concurrently, UEH has established a semester-based work framework for the four-year training program, enabling Ph.D. candidates to proactively manage their learning and research journey. The processes for defending proposals, thematic topics, and the final thesis are all digitized with a secure authorization mechanism—from manuscript submission and feedback collection to approval, committee invitation, and result updates—minimizing paperwork and increasing operational efficiency.
The Graduation Internship Management System (UEH Internship) is a software for managing the Internship and Graduation course for undergraduate students. The system allows for:
+ Connecting all course data and tracking students' internship progress;
+ Assigning supervisors and facilitating interaction between supervisors and students;
+ Submitting assignments and grading, synchronizing and confirming grades, statistical reporting, and archiving;
+ Automatically conducting surveys, receiving feedback from host organizations, and sending thank-you letters to partner enterprises.
Through these convenient features, UEH Internship enhances transparency, reduces administrative procedures, and strengthens the university-student-enterprise bond.

The Master's Thesis Management System (UEH Thesis) is a digital solution dedicated to managing Master's theses and postgraduate projects, optimizing the postgraduate training process. The system enables:
+ Automatic reminders for submission deadlines and key milestones;
+ Data consolidation and security;
+ Progress tracking and communication among students, supervisors, and administrative staff;
+ Digital signing and archiving of electronic theses;
+ Generating statistical data for quality assessment, providing a basis for decision-making.
Consequently, UEH Thesis contributes to standardizing academic management processes, ensuring transparency and efficiency in postgraduate training.

The three systems—UEH Internship, UEH Thesis, and UEH PhD—form an integrated digital academic management chain. This allows the university to conduct end-to-end monitoring from undergraduate to postgraduate levels while optimizing administrative procedures and reducing paper and travel costs for learners.
The implementation of this digital academic ecosystem is not merely a technical advancement but a transformation of UEH's academic governance model. It moves towards a digital-green-sustainable university where all processes are managed online, transparently, and are user-friendly for learners.
With the guiding principle that "Technology is a core tool for learning, research, and innovation," UEH is progressively building a unified academic data platform. This platform will track the entire learning and research journey of its students and provide a database to support strategic decision-making in training management and development.
UEH continues to affirm its pioneering role in educational digital transformation, realizing its vision of becoming a multidisciplinary, sustainable, smart, and global university.
UEH's Pioneering Journey in Educational Digital Transformation With nearly 50 years of establishment and development, the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) has become a key national, multidisciplinary university. UEH has pioneered digital transformation, aiming for a smart university ecosystem encompassing technical, procedural, and human elements through six pillars: (1) Developing a sustainable digital technology platform; (2) Enhancing digital communication; (3) Improving the learning experience; (4) Strengthening digital support in management and teaching; (5) Promoting research management through digital transformation and AI; and (6) Developing community relations by freely transferring its online learning system and supporting high schools in their digital transformation. To date, UEH has successfully operated an online examination system; implemented verified electronic records; issued digital certificates for short courses; integrated a CRM system for managing and caring for learners/partners and a knowledge repository; launched an online community marketplace; comprehensively deployed the Pearson HE Digital Learning Platforms; applied AI in career counseling and learner support services, among other initiatives. |
