UEH continues to spend VND 25 billion to support learners affected by Covid-19 in 2021

Facing the complicated situation of the Covid-19 pandemic, from July 2021, the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) implemented a student support package worth 25 billion VND with a program to reduce tuition fees by 5% in the middle and final semesters of 2021 and 1000 scholarships to support learners affected by the epidemic. This support package is available for learners of all levels and training systems.

On July 9, 2021, the Council of the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) has approved a support package of 25 billion VND for learners of all levels and training systems of the University with a 5% reduction in tuition fees in the middle and final semesters of 2021 and 1000 scholarships to support learners affected by the Covid-19 epidemic. According to Prof.Dr. Nguyen Dong Phong, Secretary of the Communist Party Committee, Chairman of the UEH Council: “This is the university's share for the common difficulties of learners in the context of the epidemic. We hope that all UEH students make efforts, overcome difficulties, continue to accompany the University to complete their study plan.” This is also the second year since the first implementation of this support program, besides the budget of more than 35 billion VND for the university's annual scholarship and study support policies.

The program of 5% tuition reduction and 1000 scholarships is the active sharing and encouragement of the University so that students have more motivation to complete their academic tasks in 2021.

20 billion VND to support 5% of tuition fees for all training levels and systems.
University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City will support 5% of tuition fees for the middle and last semesters of 2021 with a total estimated budget of 20 billion VND. This is a part of the support for learners at all levels to have more motivation, continue with the University to complete the training and learning plan of 2021. Accordingly, the support funding will be deducted from the tuition fee of the following semester.
One thousand scholarships to support learners affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, worth 5 billion VND.
The total value of scholarships in the program is equivalent to VND 5 billion will be awarded to people studying at UEH with difficult family circumstances, directly affected by the Covid-19 epidemic, regardless of training level or system. It is including 05 Doctorate scholarships (12 million VND/person); 110 scholarships for Master’s degree (8 million VND/person); 580 Formal university scholarships (5 million VND/person); 65 scholarships for Degree 2 – Formal university (3 million VND/person); 55 scholarships for Formal university transition course (4 million VND/person) and 185 scholarships for Part-time (4 million VND/person).

One thousand scholarships will be awarded to learners affected by the Covid-19 epidemic at all levels and training systems.

Criteria for receiving the scholarship
Scholarships to support learners affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, are granted to candidates who meet the following criteria:
- Difficult family situation, directly affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. Specifically: Learners whose parents have lost their jobs due to the Covid-19 epidemic, whose families have no income and face economic difficulties; Learners or main income earners in the family lost their jobs due to the Covid-19 epidemic, families with reduced income and economic difficulties or other particularly difficult cases caused by the Covid-19 epidemic.
- Priority is given to learners whose parents are the frontline force involved in epidemic prevention.
- Have yet to receive any scholarship in the first semester of 2021.
- In case the candidates are in the same situation, UEH will base on the student's academic results.
