UEH and Thai Nguyen University strengthen connectivity and expand cooperation in education, scientific research, and digital transformation

On the afternoon of October 13, 2026, the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) welcomed, worked with, and signed a cooperation agreement with Thai Nguyen University, aiming to strengthen connectivity and share experiences in university governance, education, scientific research, innovation, and digital transformation. Both sides also agreed on key cooperation orientations, scheduled for implementation starting in 2027.

On the UEH side, the working session and signing ceremony were attended by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bùi Quang Hùng - President of UEH, Dr. Đinh Công Khải - Vice President of UEH, together with leaders of UEH units.

On the side of Thai Nguyen University, the event was attended by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hoàng Văn Hùng - President, Dr. Nguyễn Văn Tảo - Vice President, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyễn Thanh Hà - Vice President, Dr. Nguyễn Hồng Liên - Vice President, along with members of the delegation.

Strengthening connections and sharing resources between the two universities

Speaking at the working session, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bùi Quang Hùng - President of UEH emphasised the importance of strengthening cooperation among domestic higher education institutions alongside expanding the network of international partners. This presents an opportunity for the parties to share experience, build on their respective strengths and make effective use of resources in training, research and university governance.

In that spirit, UEH and Thai Nguyen University are working towards a long-term, comprehensive cooperative relationship across many fields. UEH leaders also encouraged the specialist units of both sides to proactively connect and hold in-depth discussions to translate the cooperation agenda into concrete terms.

Expanding cooperation in training, scientific research and digital transformation

One of the cooperation priorities discussed by the two universities is a student exchange programme, enabling learners to experience diverse learning environments, develop their capabilities and strengthen cultural exchange.

As a regional university serving the northern midlands and mountainous areas, where around 37% of its students are from ethnic minority groups, Thai Nguyen University places high value on student exchange as a way of connecting learners across regions.

Accordingly, Thai Nguyen University proposed implementing student exchange for two courses: Design Thinking and Sustainability. Leaders of the two universities agreed in principle to support dormitory arrangements, creating favourable conditions for students taking part in the programme. At the same time, UEH plans to provide training support for Thai Nguyen University staff teaching the Design Thinking course.

In addition, the two sides intend to jointly organise short-term training programmes while exploring the development of 1-2 long-term programmes that are interdisciplinary in nature and combine the professional strengths of both parties.

In scientific research, the two universities plan to select 1–2 feasible topics for joint implementation, while continuing to share experience in faculty development, research support policies and improving the quality of international publications.

In the field of governance and digital transformation, the two sides exchanged experience in applying technology to university training, management and operations.

Notably, at the working session, Thai Nguyen University shared its experience in organising HSK Chinese language proficiency examinations, with more than 60,000 candidates in 2026. Building on this, UEH plans to send a delegation to Thai Nguyen University to learn from its experience in organising and operating foreign language proficiency examinations.

In return, UEH shared its experience in organising Professional Certification Examinations in Procurement. Accordingly, UEH will coordinate with Thai Nguyen University to organise review classes in the northern midlands and mountainous region.

Signing a cooperation agreement, towards concrete activities in 2027

On the basis of the matters discussed, UEH and Thai Nguyen University signed a cooperation agreement, marking a new step forward in the relationship between the two universities. This provides an important foundation for both sides to further translate their cooperation directions into practice in training, student exchange, scientific research, innovation, digital transformation and university governance.

Accordingly, the two universities agreed to develop an implementation plan for 2027, focusing on activities that match the strengths and needs of each side. The specialist units will continue to connect and propose implementation approaches to bring the cooperation agenda into practice.

The working session and the signing of the cooperation agreement are a meaningful milestone in strengthening connections between UEH and Thai Nguyen University, affirming a proactive spirit of knowledge sharing, resource development and mutual accompaniment among Vietnamese higher education institutions, towards improving the quality of training and scientific research and contributing to the country’s sustainable development.
