The launching ceremony of the contest "Dynamic - Students as Future Entrepreneurs" 2017

The Dynamic Contest is an activity aimed to create a practical economic environment for students when they're still studying in university, which is also an objective of University of Economics Hochiminh city (UEH). First launched in 1996, the contest "Dynamic - Students as Future Entrepreneurs” has been successfully held by UEH for 12 times, proving it is an effective, practical and beneficial competition for Vietnamese student nationwide. Dynamic is not only an academic contest but it also serves as a link between theory and practice, students and students, students and lecturers, and especially students and enterprises.  The Dynamic competition has introduced many students who are dynamic, creative, energetic and fully capable of working in a professional and challenging environment in the process of international integration.

In the morning of Feb 26, 2017, at 59C Nguyen Dinh Chieu campus, UEH proudly held the launching ceremony of the contest "Dynamic - Students as Future Entrepreneurs" 2017. The event was attended by distinguished guests including:

- Representatives from co-organizer: Mr. Uday Shankar Sinha - CEO of ‎Suntory PepsiCo Vietnam Beverage; Mr Le Linh - Vice President of Suntory PepsiCo Vietnam Beverage and many members of this company;

- Representatives from coordinated partners in South Region: Assoc. Prof. Nguyen Thi Thu Ha - Deputy Director of Foreign Trade University, HCMC Campus; Mr. Nguyen Van Sau - Director of Center for Student Support of Banking University Hochiminh City;

- Representative from gold sponsor: Ms Tran Huu Thao Nguyen - Regional Director, Orient Commercial Joint Stock Bank;

- Representatives from UEH: Prof. Dr. Nguyen Dong Phong - President of UEH; Prof. Dr. Nguyen Trong Hoai - Vice President of UEH; Mr. Truong Minh Kiet - Head of Department of Facilities; Mr. Phan Ngoc Anh - Deputy Head of Department of Communications and Public Relations, Secretary of HoChiMinh Communist Youth Union of UEH; along with more than 1,000 students from universities in the city.

After the Prime Minister initiated the start-up movement among students, the Dynamic contest 2017 also modified its theme and chose entrepreneurship as its core value, from which the contest promoted the development of skills to build and carry out start-up projects through the models of Dynamic clubs at universities. These clubs are where students can exercise their start-up ideas as well as serves as a strong link between students, universities, enterprises and community. These values ​​have been appreciated with the proof that Dynamic 2017 has received the companionship of Suntory PepsiCo Vietnam Beverage, a funding partner of this contest throughout the years, as co-organizer of this year contest.

According to Prof. Dr. Nguyen Trong Hoai - Vice President of UEH, Head of the Organizing Committee, “Dynamic 2017 offers a great opportunity for students to develop their knowledge, skills and ideas through carrying out their own start-up projects. Hopefully, this competition will help spread widely the entrepreneurial spirit among students throughout the country.”

The difference of this year's competition is that students will compete in Dynamic Clubs from universities of the following regions: Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Central Region, Mekong Delta. (Besides UEH, there are also the presence of 9 universities: Banking University, Foreign Trade University Campus 2 -  HCMC, National Economics University, Foreign Trade University, Hanoi University; University of Economics - Hue University, University of Economics - the University of Da Nang, Can Tho University, Tay Do University.) Each Dynamic Club is established as a business organization to implement a start-up project. Each club is under the direct leadership of their university, supervised and guided by a faculty council and sponsored by a corporate advisory council. The organizing committee will hold the project selection round at universities, then the regional round to select the 4 best projects representing 4 regions to attend the final national ranking round.

Another attraction of the competition is its prize structure:

- 1 first prize:                          VND100 million in cash + Trophy

- 1 second prize:                    VND80 million in cash + Trophy

- 2 third prizes:           VND50 million in cash + Trophy for each prize

Other prizes include:

- “DYNAMIC Leader - UEH” Prize: This is an individual prize for the best contestant from the "team leader competition" session. This prize includes one VND300-million scholarship to study MBA - Master of Business Administration degree granted by University of Western Sydney.

- “DYNAMIC Talent - SPVB” Prize: The club who won first prize also has 6 spots in a visiting tour to universities and Suntory Group in Japan (each spot is worth VND100 million). 6 spots include:

+ 4 for students;

+ 1 for a mentor from the faculty staff;

+ 1 for a mentor from businesses.

- "DYNAMIC Investment - Pepsi Challenge” Prize: This is the prize for the 2 clubs at first and second ranks of the contest with the aim of investing for a sustainable development of the Dynamic clubs. Each prize is worth VND100 million.

- Other benefits:         

+ All members of the clubs participating the contest will attend skill training programs organized regionally by the Organizing Committee;

+ The full costs for 4 teams participating in the national finals in HCMC will be covered by the Organizing Committee;

+ Prizes from the Organizing Committee: Regional Prize, Impressive Club Prize, Audience Favorite Club Prize.
