Opening Ceremony and Orientation on Regulations for the Second Intake of the 2025 Doctoral Program

On the morning of October 12, 2025, University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) held the Opening Ceremony and Orientation on Regulations for the second intake of the 2025 Doctoral Program. The ceremony took place in a solemn and joyful atmosphere, marking the beginning of an in-depth academic journey for the new PhD candidates at UEH.

With nearly 50 years of establishment and development, UEH has continuously strived to affirm its position as one of the leading choices for postgraduate education nationwide, particularly in the fields of economics, business, management, and law. Hundreds of PhD graduates from UEH currently hold key positions at higher education institutions, research institutes, government agencies, organizations, and enterprises, contributing to the sustainable development of Vietnam's economy.

The Opening Ceremony for the second intake of the 2025 Doctoral Program is a testament to UEH's commitment to building a high-quality research environment and marks a significant starting point in the academic journey of its PhD candidates.

Attending the ceremony, the program was honored to welcome Prof. Dr. Su Dinh Thanh – President of UEH; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Bui Quang Hung – Vice President of UEH; Dr. Tran Anh Hoa – Vice Rector of UEH College of Business; Dr. Tran Thi Tuan Anh – Vice Rector of UEH College of Economics, Law and Government; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Trinh Thuy Anh – Vice Rector of UEH College of Technology and Design; along with the leaders of Departments, Schools/Institutes, and the PhD candidates of the second intake of 2025.

The solemn Opening Ceremony was held at Campus A of University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH).

In this admission period, UEH welcomed over 80 PhD candidates from diverse disciplines. Having passed a rigorous selection process, these outstanding individuals are now ready to embark on a journey of in-depth research and scholarly pursuit, striving to excel in UEH's advanced scientific environment.

Speaking at the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Su Dinh Thanh, President of UEH, congratulated and offered guidance to the new PhD candidates for their upcoming journey: "The Opening Ceremony of the doctoral program is a significant opening milestone in the academic journey of 88 new PhD candidates, admitted to 10 of UEH's training programs. Notably, 33 candidates are conducting their research proposals in English, clearly reflecting the trend of internationalization in doctoral training at UEH. Becoming a PhD candidate is a major turning point that demands perseverance, a passion for discovering new knowledge, and relentless critical and creative thinking. UEH is committed to providing a modern academic foundation, advanced research methods, and an open network of faculty and experts, both domestic and international. This ensures that each dissertation not only holds academic value but is also highly applicable, making practical contributions to socio-economic development."

He congratulated and welcomed the new PhD candidates into the UEH academic community, expressing his hope that they will maximize their potential during their studies. He emphasized the need not only for integrity and rigor in research but also for the courage to ask big questions, explore new frontiers, and actively participate in academic activities and conferences both nationally and internationally. Each research project is not just an academic outcome but also a testament to a spirit of responsibility, a desire to conquer knowledge, and a commitment to societal contribution.

In the session on Doctoral Program Regulations and Procedures, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tu Van Binh – Deputy Head of the UEH Department of Training, presented an overview of the academic plan and requirements for the entire program. This information helped the candidates understand key milestones, research support mechanisms, and UEH's policies for student support. The session not only provided professional information but also conveyed the spirit of academic rigor and responsibility that every PhD candidate needs for their journey of knowledge conquest.

Concluding the formal ceremony, the program continued with a series of thematic presentations. + "Introduction to UEH's International Publication Grant Program and Scientific Integrity" presented by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Duong Phuong Thao – Deputy Head of the Department of Research - Development and Global Engagement;

+ Sharing "Experiences in Research and International Publication & Introduction to JABES Journal" presented by Prof. Dr. Nguyen Trong Hoai – Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Asian Business and Economic Studies;

+ "Introduction to the Full-Time PhD Candidate Program" presented by Ms. Dang Thi Bach Van, M.A. – Deputy Head of the Human Resources and Organisation Development Department;

+ "Utilizing UEH Library Resources" presented by Ms. Nguyen Tran Minh Chau, M.A. – Librarian.

Following the key presentations, the PhD candidates received detailed instructions on how to use the PhD Dissertation Management System. This essential online tool allows learners to easily communicate with their supervisors, update their academic information, register research topics, track progress, and complete necessary administrative procedures proactively and efficiently throughout their program. The guidance from the Department of Training helped the candidates master the system to optimize their research journey.
