A 25+ years journey of student scientific research in Finance: Connection - Gratitude - Continuing the tradition

On the morning of November 22, 2025, the School of Finance at the UEH College of Business solemnly held a ceremony to celebrate "25+ years journey of student scientific research in Finance" and to launch the School of Finance Alumni Liaison Committee. The event marked a significant milestone in the school's journey of nurturing research capacity and connecting the UEH Finance community.

The event was attended by Prof. Dr. Nguyen Khac Quoc Bao – Secretary of the Party Committee, Chairman of the UEH Council; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phan Thi Bich Nguyet – Chairwoman of the UEH Alumni Executive Committee; Dr. Dinh Thi Thu Hong – Head of the Department of Training; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Duong Phuong Thao – Deputy Head of the Department of Research - Development and Global Engagement; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Thi Hai Ly – Vice Rector of the UEH College of Business; Dr. Le Dat Chi – Dean of the School of Finance; along with numerous faculty, students, and, especially generations of alumni from the School of Finance.

The student scientific research movement at the School of Finance is intrinsically linked to the history and development of the Student Finance Research Group (SFR), the School's specialized academic student group with a proud history of achievements. SFR was established on November 20, 1999, with the mission of creating an ideal environment balancing academics, professional expertise, and skills development, while connecting generations of its members.

Over more than 25 years of development, SFR has become a leading academic unit in Finance, Investment, and Scientific Research at UEH. With the motto "Sharing for Receiving," SFR has continuously disseminated a spirit of learning and dedication. From specialized seminars to scientific research competitions, all its activities are driven by the aspiration to help UEH students deepen their understanding of finance and advance in their careers. More than just a place of learning, SFR is a shared home for over 2,500 members and a bridge connecting generations of students, alumni, and faculty, all of whom have co-authored a story of growth.

Today, after 26 years, the SFR group has made great strides in fulfilling its mission and has proven its standing in every field. With over 1,500 alumni achieving success in various sectors, the extended SFR family is a testament to the power of knowledge, a spirit of sharing, and strong bonds. Through 26 years of efforts by successive generations, the scientific research journey of Finance students has always borne the distinct imprint of the SFR group.

At the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Khac Quoc Bao, one of SFR's founding members and the Head of its second-term Executive Committee, recounted the group's proud journey and also outlined future directions for SFR to continue its development, aligning with UEH's strategy of becoming a multidisciplinary, multi-field and sustainable university.

As part of the event, to enhance connection, coordination, and mutual support in joint activities, and to create a bridge between generations of alumni from the School of Finance, with the approval of UEH Alumni, officially introduced and launched the School of Finance Alumni Liaison Committee.

The School Executive Board expressed their hope that, through the Liaison committee, the School of Finance alumni community will have more opportunities to collaborate, support, and grow even stronger in the future.

The 25-year journey of the student scientific research movement and the 26-year development of SFR have always been accompanied by the dedicated guidance and support of the esteemed lecturers of the School of Finance faculty. This has been a crucial foundation enabling the scientific research movement among the students in general and SFR's activities in particular; for the continuous and in-depth growth as well as maintaining its role as one of UEH's prominent academic units. On this occasion, the School of Finance and the SFR group presented commemorative tokens of appreciation to the esteemed lecturers to express their gratitude for their guidance and support from the very beginning.

For over 25 years, the journey of student scientific research in Finance has left a deep academic imprint and built a cohesive community bound by knowledge, passion, and a spirit of sharing. From the early days of SFR to the success of thousands of students and alumni, each generation has contributed to the proud identity of the School of Finance.

This year's celebration was an occasion to look back on the journey and to affirm the connective strength of the Finance family, where generations return to continue a shared path of development. In the future, with a strong tradition and a growing alumni community, it is believed that this spirit of research, creativity, and connection will continue to thrive, contributing to the development of every UEHer, the alumni community, and UEH on its journey toward becoming a multidisciplinary and sustainable university.
