UEH International Publication Sponsorship Guideline

INTERNATIONAL PUBLICATION SPONSORSHIP GUIDELINE 2023

Pursuant to Decision No. 3846/QyĐ-ĐHKT-QLKH, dated December 12th, 2017 and adopted by the UEH President, regarding the International Publication Research Fund;

Pursuant to Guideline No. 2730/HD-ĐHKT-QLKH, dated on December 17th, 2020, regarding international publication sponsorship guidelines 2021; 

Pursuant to the actual situation arising in the administration of academic research and international publication at UEH;

 
The University issues the Guidelines on international publication sponsorship in 2023 as follows:
 
  1. Objectives
  • To promote scientific research in service of UEH’s strategy to become a multidisciplinary and sustainable university;
  • To encourage and advance scientific research capabilities at UEH;
  • To strengthen local and international scientific research networks;
  • To increase UEH’s academic reputation and promote UEH’s overall university rankings.
  1. Scope and targeted subjects
    1. Scope
Academic Research Articles/Papers defined in this Guideline include: 
  • Articles that have been published in reputable international journals indexed by Web of Science (SSCI, SCIE, ESCI, AHCI), Scopus and ABDC (Rank B or above);
  • Book chapters/series from the following reputable publishers: Springer, Elsevier, Wiley-Blackwell, Taylor and Francis, Sage, Oxford University Press, Cambridge University Press, Emerald, Macmillan Publishers, Inderscience Publishers, Edward Elgar Publishing, Degruyter, World Scientific, Peter Lang, Thomson Reuters, McGraw Hill and publishers of the world's Top 100 Universities according to the Times Higher Education World University Ranking (THE) published by Times Higher Education (UK) in cooperation with Thomson Reuters’ annual poll[1].
  • Articles that have been published in proceedings of international conferences in the field of technology Rank A*, A, B, according to CORE.
UEH will not consider sponsorship/bonus for articles published in non-reputable journals/publishers listed in Beallslist[2] (Predatory Publishers/ Predatory Journals/ Vanity Press or Hijacked Journals).
 
UEH will not consider sponsorship/bonus for the following cases: Trade Journal, Conference Proceedings, Data Script/ Data Article/ Data Paper, Viewpoint, Review/ Commentary, Editorial, Letter to Editor, Note, Short Survey…
 
This Guideline is not applicable to any scientific studies unrelated to the concentration in which UEH is researching and training.
  1. Targeted subjects:
Targeted subjects include (1) UEH employees (including those studying/working abroad); (2) UEH students (including undergraduate, masters and doctoral students currently pursuing UEH-certified or UEH-affiliated exchange; (3) Research Fellowship; and (4) UEH alumni; in which, the above subjects are authors who named UEH on international publications under the scope of sponsorship of this Guideline.
 
In the event that the author is a UEH student, a collaborative researcher or UEH alumni, the University will only evaluate for sponsorship and bonus if the author’s international publication is in UEH’s name and co-authored by a UEH official under the same UEH name.
  1. Guidelines for implementation:
    1. Sponsorship/Funding:

To be considered for sponsorship/bonus, UEH instructs all targeted subjects to fulfill the following requirements:

  • The author (or representative of the author group) shall register the paper information on the “International Publication Registration and Declaration” system to enable the Department of Research Management – International Cooperation (RMIC) to initiate the sponsorship approval process. All approved registration will serve as the basis for official funding once the paper is published.
  • In the international publication, UEH-affiliated authors must provide the following exact information: “University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam”.
  • In the international publication, the author(s) must provide the following exact information in the Acknowledgement: 
    • “This research is funded by University of  Economics Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam (UEH)” in the event that the paper is expected to receive full sponsorship from UEH;
    • “This research is partially funded by University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH), Vietnam” in the event that the paper is expected to receive partial sponsorship from UEH.
  • In the international publication, the author must use the email provided by UEH. Any UEH-affiliated researchers that are not UEH staff are not compelled to use UEH-provided emails.
  • After the paper has been published online and given a DOI, the author must declare publication on the “International Publication Registration and Declaration” System.
  • All authors must update newly published articles on their Google Scholar Profiles, Research Gate and personal Publons
  1. Bonus:
Any article receiving external sponsorship besides UEH, not registering a formal abstract, or not considered for funding according to Section 3, Article a is eligible for UEH bonus evaluation. UEH instructs all targeted subjects to follow the below 
protocol for sponsorship consideration:
  • After the paper has been published online and given a DOI, the author must forward all relevant information from the publication to the Department of Research Management - International Cooperation.
  • All authors must update all newly-published articles on their Google Scholar Profiles, Research Gate and personal Publons.

This Guideline updates, modifies and replaces Guideline No. 2730/HD-ĐHKT-QLKHHTQT dated December 17, 2020 on International Publication Sponsorship Guideline in 2021. This Guideline shall be in effect from April 1, 2023. All international publications submitted before April 1, 2023 shall be considered for sponsorship/bonus according to the previous guidelines.

Please contact the Department of Research Management - International Cooperation for more information. Exceptional cases that are not included under this Guideline will be considered for sponsorship separately.
