The Opening Ceremony of 1st Publishing Workshop Funded by the British Academy - The pre-event of UEH’s ACBES 2018

From 5^th - 7^th September 2018, at Campus A - 59C Nguyen Dinh Chieu St., the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH) hosted the 1st Publishing Workshop Funded by the British Academy, in collaboration with the University of Leicester and the Open University (UK).

Attending the Workshop, the distinguished guests from UK were Prof. Steve Brown, Sociology and Psychology of Organization - the Open University; Dr. Marta Gasparin, Deputy Director of the PhD Program; Dr. Fabien Frenzel, Tourism; Dr. Steve Conway, Creativity, Innovation and Entrepreneurship; Dr. Georgios Patsiaouras, Marketing and Consumption; Prof. Christophe Schinckus, Finance - the University of Leicester. On the UEH’s side, there were Prof. Nguyen Trong Hoai - Vice President; Prof. Su Dinh Thanh - Editor-in-Chief of JABES; Dr. Nguyen Phuc Canh - Deputy Editor-in-Chief of JABES.

The 1^st Publishing Workshop brought together a large number of researchers, lecturers, PhDs from various countries, especially countries of the Asia-Pacific Region (UK, Germany, US, India, Thailand, Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam...) to connect and discuss with expert editors from the UK in international publication.

Therefore, it was a great opportunity for young researchers to learn how to develop ideas of their papers, structure a paper, and how to apply for funding, develop their manuscript to submit to high quality journals and explore funding opportunities. These participants worked interactively in small groups (typically 4 people) to have several hours of intensive discussion about their research with a UK faculty member, where they presented and reviewed the papers of the other participants.

The Workshop welcomed 48 papers in the area of Economics, Finance, Organization Studies, Innovation, Technology and Operations, Marketing, Tourism and Cultural Heritage, Creativity and Innovation Management, Sociology and Psychology of Organizations.

In particular, after the Workshop, the participants will be connected in a digital platform, the RaW project, and the University of Leicester will fund five researchers to of come to UK to present the paper and meet the editors.

The 1^st Publishing Workshop is the pre-event of ACBES 2018 (Asia Conference on Business and Economic Studies) which will officially be organized on two days, namely on 8th - 9th September 2018. The ACBES 2018 is in the framework of promoting the quality of JABES intended as a Scopus-Indexed Journal.
