International Conference on "Policies and Sustainable Economic Development"

On November 11, 2016, at 59C Nguyen Dinh Chieu Campus, the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh (UEH) organized an international conference, "Policies and Sustainable Economic Development", which is part of the project framework of "Renovation of the English version of Journal of Economic Development to meet Scopus standards".

The conference was attended by distinguished guests including: Prof. Dr. Mazyrin Vladimir Moiseevich - University of Lomonosov - Russian Federation; Prof. Dr. Howard Nicholas - Erasmus University - Rotterdam; Prof. Dr. Jean-Louis Paré - President of board of directors of French Vietnamese Center of Management (CFVG). On the side of UEH, there were Prof. Dr. Nguyen Trong Hoai - Vice President, Project Leader; Prof. Dr. Su Dinh Thanh - Editor-in-chief of Journal of Economic Development; Prof. Dr. Duong Thi Binh Minh - Former Editor-in-chief of Journal of Economic Development; along with researchers who are working at UEH and other universities in the field of economics and business management as well as interested PhD students.

International Conference ICUEH2016 aimed to provide opportunities for researchers in Vietnam as well as in other countries to publicize and discuss their research findings related to economic development in order to contribute policy implications for sustainable development. The conference attracted the attention of researchers from universities and economic institutions across the country. After the peer review and selection processes, the scientific committee chose 37 out of the 44 qualified papers submitted to be presented and published in the conference proceedings.

The international conference ICUEH2016 was held successfully, focusing on different topics as followed:

• Session 1: Researchers discuss issues of Macroeconomics; Development of Economic Sectors; Economic Growth in its relation to poverty, inequality and environmental downgrading.

• Session 2: Researchers discuss issues of Business Administration; Labor and Employment; and Human Resource Development.

• Session 3: Researchers discuss issues of Banking and Finance Systems; Financial Markets; Corporate Structure in the context of sustainable development and global integration.

International Conference ICUEH2016 also contributed high-quality papers to Journal of Economic Development, helping enhance the prestige of the Journal to gradually achieve the standards of an international journal, in the scope of the Scopus project.
